‘He’s Brandon to me’: DeSantis explains why he calls Biden by iconic nickname, looks ahead to ‘big’ win

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R) reputation continues to grow and, as some have begun to consider him America’s governor, he effortlessly demonstrated how in sync he is with the cultural movement while explaining of President Joe Biden, “he’s Brandon to me.”

DeSantis joined Fox News contributor Lisa Boothe for an in-depth discussion on corporate media, the nature of woke culture and the importance of defending the next generation from indoctrination on her podcast, “The Truth with Lisa Boothe.” During the conversation, DeSantis’ authenticity stood out in a way sure to make liberal heads explode.

“I think we’ve got a lot of problems in the country. I think you look at some of these big institutions, we see with corporate America, big tech censorship, we see our bureaucracy totally out of control,” he offered near the end of the discussion before tacking on an exclamation point. “Obviously, Brandon in the White House is a total disaster.”

DeSantis has not shied away from opportunities to troll Biden with the use of the expression “Let’s Go Brandon” in some form or another. He had even gone as far as to travel to Brandon, Florida, to sign a piece of legislation against COVID mandates to cement his favor of the G-rated euphemism for “F*ck Joe Biden.”

“You know, it’s funny, the media doesn’t like that when you say Brandon,” DeSantis stated after Boothe suggested they end the conversation with the expression. “But what I tell them is, as long as he’s treating my state the way he is, stiffing seniors of relief from disasters, not doing anything to lower gas prices, allowing all these illegals across the border, as long as he’s doing that, he’s Brandon to me.”

The governor, who has continued to demonstrate his willingness to stand his ground where the meek have faltered, went on, “It’s tough to be on the side of truth right now because you’ve got a lot of people who will come down on you, they’ll attack you. You gotta face smears and flaming arrows and all this stuff. But, we’re really called upon right now to yes, stand for the right things, but show courage, show backbone and not back down from these people. I mean, if we back down, they’re gonna steamroll us!”

That attitude has driven speculation about a face-off between former President Donald Trump and DeSantis for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Insiders have even told NBC News that he’s hoping to outperform the president’s 2020 3.3 percent margin of victory this fall.

“My goal would be, if we win the election really big, people like you who analyze these things are going to say: ‘The days of Florida being a swing state are over. Florida is a red state.’ And I think that’s because of a lot of what we’ve done,” he told Boothe, adding weight to theories that he is looking beyond the 2022 election.

However, for his part, DeSantis has remained grounded in doing what’s best for his state to combat “Brandon” and the agenda of the left. “I think in Florida, we’ve been willing to stand time after time, when it gets hot, when we’re facing the fire and we do not back down.”
