As Tesla CEO Elon Musk finalized his buyout of Twitter on Monday vowing to restore free speech, a number of big-name conservatives rejoined the social media platform, while others are waiting for their accounts to be unlocked and leftists threaten to scurry for the exits.
Musk has previously said he will fire the entire board of directors once he owns the company and will take it private where it does not risk being taken over by leftists once again. It remains to be seen just how severely the SpaceX tycoon will clean house but many expect it to be significant given the rampant political bias in-house.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson is back and so is legendary conservative pundit Mark Levin following the sealed $44 billion deal with Twitter.
The Babylon Bee had its account locked in March after the satirical site engaged in what Twitter labeled as “hateful conduct” concerning a joke that honored transgender US Assistant Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine with the site’s “Man of the Year” award for 2022.
CEO Seth Dillon received a notice on March 20 that his company was locked out of its account. The Babylon Bee has 1.3 million followers. The account is still locked but many speculate it will be reinstated after Musk sat down for an interview with the Babylon Bee before the lockout.

The outlet’s editor-in-chief shared a humorous take as the Twitter purchase drama unfolded on Monday.

Carlson was suspended for endorsing tweets from the Babylon Bee, which was suspended by Twitter for alleged violations of its terms of service. Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk was also booted for pointing out that Levine had “spent 54 years of his life as a man.”
“But wait. Both these tweets are true,” Carlson noted on Twitter while showing a screenshot of both tweets. For that, he was exiled.
“We’re back,” Carlson tweeted on Monday.
We’re back.

Mediaite is claiming that the Fox News host misled his viewers on his return to Twitter, reporting that he ran the chyron on his show stating, “UNSHACKLED BY ELON MUSK: FREE SPEECH RESTORED; @TUCKERCARLSON BACK ON TWITTER.”
The message ran for all of one minute from 8:10 pm to 8:11 pm ET according to the outlet.

Twitter had informed Carlson that his account would be locked until he deleted the Levine tweet. He refused to do so. However, the tweet now seems to be gone and Carlson’s account is now unlocked.
Fox News host Mark Levin also announced that he was coming back to Twitter, “thanks to new ownership,” after leaving the platform because he could no longer stomach the blatant censorship there.
Thanks to new ownership, I’ve decided to come back! 😊

Truckers for Freedom was also banned on Twitter. They reopened their account Monday and now have over 35,000 followers.
Friends, it is happening again like the last time. We already have 1000 followers in one hour since we have rejoined twitter! Last time we had the same growth (but not from the first hour!!!) Follow us to support, Elon Musk is with us!#truckersforfreedom pic.twitter.com/PmmrhVkw6g

#WalkAway campaign founder Brandon Straka, who got in hot water over the Jan. 6 protest, is also coming back to Twitter. He wrote in answer to Carlson saying he was back, “All the good people are coming back! Brandon Straka is back in business starting this Thursday! #WalkAway.”

Others who are wanted back by many followers include Alex Jones, Laura Loomer, and James O’Keefe.
Many more reported an uptick in followers:
Yep. @elonmusk should find out what they did differently today. I had previously lost 200k plus in the Big Purge last year. https://t.co/xWwlleyMj4

I had a massive bump in followers yesterday — 20 times normal!

The left, however, is in total meltdown over the purchase by Musk and his vow to restore free speech.
A number of big names have either left the platform already or are threatening to.
Former DNC chair Howard Dean was among the first to threaten to jump ship on the left, tweeting, “Hi Twitterverse. Many thanks for the knowledge and sharing over the past ten years or so. If Musk takes over Twitter I will be off within a few hours. Might be just as well for my well being but I’ve learned a lot of valuable stuff from many of you. Thank you all. Howard.”

He evidently did not carry through with his proclaimed departure it would seem. His account is still active.
Actress Jameela Jamil also vowed to leave Twitter after the announcement of new, private ownership by Musk. As of this writing, her account is still active as well.
“One good thing about Elon buying twitter is that I will *FINALLY* leave and stop being a complete menace to society on here. So it’s win win for you all really. 😂,” the actress stated.

“Ah he got twitter. I would like this to be my what lies here as my last tweet. Just really *any* excuse to show pics of Barold. I fear this free speech bid is going to help this hell platform reach its final form of totally lawless hate, bigotry, and misogyny. Best of luck. ❤️,” she sneered.

Racial activist, Shaun King appeared to deactivate his account as his page was not available:
BREAKING: @ShaunKing has deleted his Twitter account
— Jack Posobiec 🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) April 26, 2022
His hate-filled tweet before leaving the platform read, “At its root, @ElonMusk wanting to purchase Twitter is not about left vs right. It’s about white power. The man was raised in Apartheid by a white nationalist. He’s upset that Twitter won’t allow white nationalists to target/harass people. That’s his definition of free speech.”

— Lauren Chen (@TheLaurenChen) April 25, 2022
**Update: Shaun King reappeared the next day angry as ever claiming that he never deleted his account as widely reported:
You wish, motherfucker.
I didn’t delete my account.
I was getting death threats and hack attempts from your buddies who stormed the Capitol and had to make it more secure.
Good luck not perjuring yourself when you testify before the January 6th committee. https://t.co/T0Q7skDwJ4

BuzzFeed reporter Katie Notopoulos went off on the whole affair, proclaiming, “Admit it, you’ll never quit Twitter,” to leftists.
And she had much more to say (LANGUAGE):
Well, it happened: Elon Musk has bought Twitter, for whatever reason. And you, a sophisticate, are reacting in alarm and perhaps disgust.
Oh, please.
Let’s be honest with ourselves. We deserve this. We deserve the stupidest possible outcome here. We can’t get enough of it.
If you are still on Twitter in April 2022, do not try to pretend you don’t love to eat shit all day. I get it, I’m just like you. We crave the bad tweets, the bad takes, the ratios, the pile-ons, the quote tweet dunks. To pretend otherwise is a farce.
We’re nasty little pisspigs and we’re begging for more slop on our plates — and guess what my little piggies, today we got a big heaping trough full of it. Oink oink!
There’s a reason people call Twitter “the hell site”: the waves of rampant abuse and harassment, the motivations that encourage the worst behavior, the anger, the stupidity. But like the dopiest moths to the shittiest flame, we can’t tear ourselves away from it.
She ended off with a blunt, honest take: “The truth is, it doesn’t matter what Musk does to Twitter. We’ll all still be here like the foul little goblins we know we are, doing our nasty little tweets, lapping for favs and RTs like gerbils at the metal water bottle spigot. See you all in Hell.”
Meanwhile, Musk doesn’t want anyone to leave… he just wants free speech.
I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means
