CNN+ host Chris Wallace attempted to shame and entrap actor William Shatner for a show of his that was internationally distributed and wound up on “Russia Today” (RT) before it was taken off the air, shamelessly asking him if he was “embarrassed” over it airing on the channel.

Shatner sat down with Wallace on Thursday during a CNN+ segment from the soon-to-be-canceled show, “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” He was cornered by Wallace during the interview over programming that aired on RT which the actor had no control over and the leftist host wanted to know about his feelings on the subject.

“So, I’m going to ask an earnest, honest question because there’s a controversy that’s been stirred up… you know what it’s about,” Wallace said to Shatner according to Mediaite.

“No, I don’t,” the actor replied.

“Yes, you do,” Wallace rudely insisted.

“You have a TV series called ‘I Don’t Understand,’ and it runs on RT America,” Wallace stated.

“No it doesn’t,” Shatner said, cutting Wallace off.

“Let me finish. I always say let me ask the question, then you can answer,” the host responded attempting to put Shatner in his place.

“It ran on RT America until RT America was taken off the air because of Ukraine,” the host arrogantly asserted. “I understand you didn’t make it for RT America. It’s part of a distribution deal. Here is the question: Do you have any misgivings about the idea of appearing on a pro-Russian station, channel?”

The interview gave the impression that Shatner was ambushed with the question. He explained to Wallace that he made the show for Ora TV which streams free digital content online. His show is called, “I Don’t Understand” and addresses subjects that Shatner knows nothing about.

“Imagine saying, ‘How do you write an opera?’ And you talk to a guy on how to write an opera,” the actor remarked.

Shatner told Wallace that he found out later that the show was sold to RT by Ora TV.

“It’s like the BBC… it’s the arm of a nation and they have their point of view,” he pointed out, referring to RT. “What’s the problem?”

“Russian television is not the BBC,” Wallace condescendingly told Shatner.

Shatner asserted that he didn’t know that, and added, “I’m doing a show that is as non-political as you can get.”

“But now that you know what RT is, are you embarrassed at all that you were appearing there?” Wallace pressed.

Shatner thought about it and replied, “Well, it’s a complex question… I was having the most fun.”

He stated that the show can also be found on YouTube.

Wallace didn’t give up and asked Shatner if he was embarrassed again. The actor wasn’t having any of it and simply didn’t answer the question. He then launched into an impression of Jerry Lewis after referring to the reactions he had received over the show airing on RT. He claims he honestly didn’t know anything about the Russian propaganda outlet.

It became glaringly obvious that Shatner did not want to make the show about politics in any way, shape, or form and he attempted to get that across to Wallace in a non-confrontational way. The former Fox News anchor did not appear to get the point.

  1. After having beaten back the Romulan Empire and the Klingons, Chris Wallace should have known that his paltry, underhanded question could never faze someone like Captain Kirk, who has gone where no man’s gone before.

  2. Poor Chris, he went from a not bad journalist many years ago, to a babbling idiot just like Brandon. Dementia is a cruel master, especially for the popular. They should take a clue Mel Gibson, acknowledge they have an issue an withdraw from public. Though Brandon needs to hang around for two more years so Kackala never ever becomes President.

  3. I guess that Chrissie thought Capt. Kirk was just going to roll over and play dead. Oh Chris , didnt you know? Capt. Kirk was just Bill being himself. Not everyone is as fake as you are.

  4. Wallace is an a$$hole and no one with any intelligence would watch his show. Shatner should have responded that he was as embarrassed about the show being on RT just about as much as Wallace’s mother was for not having aborted him.

  5. Look who’s talking?
Shouldn’t that be who is listening?
By the end of next week.
No one will be listening, or talking!!
I’m sure dear ole Chrisy has four walls he can talk too!!
    But for how long?

  6. Chris Wallace asking ANYONE else if they are embarrassed over a show they made???

    Chris Wallace?

    such irony!

  7. Chris Wallace was attempting to do something to make headlines to try to get viewers to see what was going on. Even Jerry Springer is liked better than Chris Wallace.

  8. And Chris Wallace goes down in flames….crash and burn I guess it’s back to the …..oh wait they canceled his platform….not just his show but the whole platform….buh bye

  9. You just CAN’T be “non-confrontational” with an IDIOT like Wallace !! He’s the type of guy that ONLY understands when he gets a punch in the face !! Shatner has a LOT more patience than I would have dealing with an IGNORANT MORON like Wallace.

  10. Oh Wallace got the point all right! But he wanted a “gotcha moment” and was determined to get it. Luckily Shatner acted the gentleman here, and didn’t call Wallace a twisted s0b!

  11. I love it when biased morons like Wallace are shown for the smug, snarky Aholes they all are

  12. That erroneously conceited has-been (or maybe never-was) will never be a real journalist. Get him a set of Legos and lock him in his room.

  13. Wallace is a traitor! Who is he to judge any one?. What a low life! He ambushed William Shatner who clearly did not want politics to rear its ugly head even if Wallace was rearing his.

  14. Actually, I found this article to be pretty funny. Here you have an elitist “journalist” sticking his nose down at a veteran actor who is having too much fun in his latter years to be political, and he still can pull the rug from under people like Wallace.

  15. Next time, Shatner might ask, “Shall we talk about actual relationships?, Chris, aren’t you embarrassed to work for a network that hires men like accused sex criminal John Griffin? Or what about Chris Cuomo–indicted on charges of luring young girls for “sexual subservience” training”? Isn’t your real and close relationship to Cuomo and Griffin embarassing? But then, Shatner is too nice a guy to do that. Thankfully, no one will be “talking to Chris Wallace” with CNN+ demise.

  16. Someone get Chris Wallace a metal detector, bermuda shorts and black socks, so he can walk the beach all day and leave us alone.

  17. I understand a few clueless souls back at Fox are actually entertaining the idea of bringing this leftist hack loser back. Talk about insane stupidity! 🤬His viewership quantity was in the toilet before he left Fox. But I’m sure he can find work over at MSDNC and continue to maintain his level of viewership.

  18. Lispy Chris Wallace is done forever. He was trying so hard to be his father—and failing every step of the way. Good riddance.

    1. It’s not a lisp. It’s a nasally pinched nose sound that has never sounded suitable for broadcasting. Good riddance Chris Wallace!
