Media’s intel experts remain doggedly defiant on ‘Russian disinformation’ despite Hunter Biden confirmation

In an era overflowing with fact-checkers and public apologies, one can’t help but notice that none of the 51 former intelligence operatives who, in 2020, signed a letter dismissing the Hunter Biden laptop story as nothing more than “Russian disinformation” have stepped forward to admit how egregiously wrong they were about a subject so hot, it could have swayed the presidential election.

Now that The New York Times and The Washington Post have authenticated the laptop and its contents, no one has come forward with a “mea culpa” for the New York Post, which broke the bombshell story, though the false cries of Russian involvement led to a 16-day ban on Twitter as the paper suffered attack after attack on its credibility.

And it’s not like they haven’t had the chance to make things right.

As Fox News points out, many of the cosigners to the infamous letter are now CNN and MSNBC talking heads and have had numerous on-air moments to express their sincere regret.

“Former CIA chief of staff-turned MSNBC pundit Jeremy Bash, CIA director-turned MSNBC pundit John Brennen and ex-director of national intelligence-turned-CNN pundit James Clapper are among the retired intelligence operatives who insisted the laptop revealing Hunter Biden’s shady overseas business dealings, along with a cache of damning emails and photos, was the result of a ‘Russian disinformation’ campaign designed to help keep then-President Trump in office,” Fox News Digital reports.

According to Fox News, since the laptop has been authenticated, Brennan has made at least five appearances on MSNBC, Clapper — whom the New York Post calls a “professional fabricator” — has taken to CNN at least 12 times, and Bash has taken part in 11 MSNBC segments since the New York Times finally confirmed the laptop’s authenticity.

The slight hasn’t escaped the now-vindicated editorial board of the New York Post.

“They are the supposed nonpartisan group of top spies looking out for the best interest of the nation,” the board wrote following the Times’ March 16  report. “But the 51 former ‘intelligence’ officials who cast doubt on The Post’s Hunter Biden laptop stories in a public letter really were just desperate to get Joe Biden elected president. And more than a year later, even after their Deep State sabotage has been shown again and again to be a lie, they refuse to own up to how they undermined an election.”

In fact, when The Post reached out to Clapper for any signs of remorse, the former director of national intelligence doubled down on his earlier statement.

“Yes, I stand by the statement made AT THE TIME, and would call attention to its 5th paragraph. I think sounding such a cautionary note AT THE TIME was appropriate,” Clapper replied (emphasis his).

The fifth paragraph mentioned reads:

“We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement — just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case.”

In other words, Clapper is highlighting the fact that the so-called “intelligence experts” did no investigating and had no evidence other than their collective feelings that the story came from Russia when they denounced the report, effectively burying the truth just before voters were to choose their next leader.

As Fox News reported, ex-CIA officer and conservative radio host Buck Sexton blasted the former intelligence officers after the laptop was verified.

“It’s one thing when you have Brian Stelter [claiming] it’s Russian disinformation — he doesn’t know anything,” said Sexton on the “Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show.”

“Some of the former directors of our intelligence agencies — some of the folks that are on that front page of the New York Post I worked for — I know some of these people. They went either completely out of their minds or were willing accomplices in the lie, to the apparatus,” he added.

According to Sexton, people like Clapper are willing to double down on their errors because they believe, on a personal level, that they “did their part” for a “bigger purpose.”

“[That] is what everybody should know about the apparatus,” Sexton said. “It’s not about the truth. It’s about power.”

  1. The key to knowing they all lied was that 51 paid operatives signed a letter. Who does that unless you know they are guilty? Only democrats try to deflect and lie. They very well knew the laptop was real and damaging and had hopes the drug addict had deleted his hard drive, whoops. We all knew it was real , at least anyone with half a brain knew. All except the dumbest group of sheeple voters ever.

  2. Of course they do… they have to stick to their lie now. They’re a laughing stock.

  3. “…and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32
which leads me to believe that so many entrenched politicians and public “servants” are enslaved in their own falsehoods.

  4. Back to the Russia, Russia , Russia thing again. That’s all they have. Don’t expect any actual Russians to help you. They got their hands full in Ukraine.

  5. Brennan and Clapper are totally corrupt… plus, they are both vile and despicable subhuman bags of pig offal.
