Jimmy Kimmel better watch out.
U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) reported on Wednesday that she’s filed a report with the U.S. Capitol Police.
The filing was made over Kimmel’s joke that she ought to be slapped by Will Smith—a reference, of course, to Smith’s infamous dustup with Chris Rock at the Oscars when the actor jumped on stage and slapped the comedian for a rather tame joke made at the expense of his wife.
Naturally, the incident has liberal comedians (an oxymoron if ever there was one) fantasizing about which of their opponents they’d rather be on the receiving end of Smith’s slap-happy antics. So, predictably, Jimmy Kimmel—the least funny of the leftist late-night lineup—made a joke about Will Smith slapping Marjorie Taylor Greene.

The joke came Tuesday night, and was made in response to Greene’s statement on Twitter condemning Senate Republicans who are voting to confirm President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson as “pro-pedophile.”

The charge stems from Jackson’s lenient sentencing of various sexual predators charged with the possession of child pornography. During Jackson’s confirmation hearings, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) questioned the nominee about her sentencing decisions. Speaking of his own young children, Hawley observed: “I live in fear that they will be exposed to, let alone exploited in, this kind of material.”
“This is a disturbing record for any judge, but especially one nominated to the highest court in the land,” Hawley wrote. “Protecting the most vulnerable shouldn’t be up for debate. Sending child predators to jail shouldn’t be controversial.”
Kimmel, a noted sycophant and leftist hack if ever there was one, shared with his audience a tweet by Marjorie Taylor Greene where she wrote: “Murkowski, Collins, and Romney are pro-pedophile. They just voted for #KBJ.”
“Wow,” he said, “where is Will Smith when you really need him?”
“Besides that being disgusting,” he continued, “that woman is good pals with Matt Gaetz, who is currently under investigation for trafficking minors for sex. It’s scum and scummer.”
Matt Gaetz, the Florida representative, and Greene’s fellow firebrand is often cited in left-wing circles as a “sex trafficker.” However, as Glenn Greenwald notes in a recent Substack article, scurrilous New York Times and Washington Post headlines notwithstanding, no charges have been filed against Gaetz in a court of law, and likely never will be. Instead, the purpose of the investigation seems designed to generate an endless series of “leaks” meant to destroy the lawmaker’s reputation and serve political ends.
In any case, Kimmel has nothing to worry about. In response to Greene’s statement, he merely tweeted: “Officer? I would like to report a joke.”
