Concha: Psaki should immediately resign if network she’s planning to work for wants to claim credibility

White House press secretary Jen Psaki, who is reportedly heading to MSNBC next month, should instead exit the White House today — or yesterday.

That is the assessment of Joe Concha, media and politics columnist for The Hill and a Fox News contributor, who has insisted that “Regardless of what Psaki’s legacy will be, she should announce her resignation. Immediately.”

When asked, Psaki has been coy about her plans to leave the federal government, and where she will end up, serving helpings of word salad more than once in that context.  She has also claimed that she is abiding by stringent ethical requirements in connection with any future employment

Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich has reported that CNN and MSNBC allegedly engaged in a “bidding war” for Psaki’s punditry services.

This raises a potential or actual conflict of interest in terms of Psaki fielding questions from reporters, mostly of a softball variety except for herself, colleague Peter Doocy, and perhaps one or two others, at White House pressers while she and her agents were haggling with their corporate media bosses over the terms and conditions of a job.

“And is Psaki making decisions around access while in negotiations?” Concha wondered in an opinion piece published by The Hill Tuesday.

Concha noted that TV channels provide a typical landing spot for ex-White House communications staffers.

George Stephanopoulos, Dana Perino, and Kayleigh McEnany are among many examples. And Psaki had worked in the Obama administration and was a CNN contributor during the Trump presidency.

“No one is saying that Psaki going back into cable news is wrong…But Psaki should not stay on as White House press secretary one moment longer if she’s planning to go to a news organization that covers the administration. And several members of the White House press corps, to their credit, held Psaki’s feet to the fire on Friday when news broke of her plan to join the liberal network in May,” he wrote.

“Psaki apparently has one foot out the door. The guess here is that she didn’t expect the MSNBC news to be leaked, and the White House communications team isn’t ready for her to leave while a successor is being groomed,” Concha claimed about the official that his Fox News colleague Tucker Carlson has described as a White House publicist.

In circling back, as it were, to Psaki’s performance at the podium, Concha seemed to be marking on a curve, while also noting how the liberal media has predictably heaped praise on her.

“In a sea of administration incompetence, Psaki easily stands out as the most competent Biden official in doing her thankless job of spinning a losing narrative on a daily basis…But Psaki often has gone well beyond spin, sometimes taking it to comical levels,” he wrote. “She once claimed Republicans supported defunding the police (they didn’t) and that the U.S. southern border was closed (it wasn’t). She claimed that President Biden takes press questions ‘all the time’ (not even close), that no Americans were stranded in Afghanistan (they were), and that ‘no economist out there is projecting that [the Build Back Better bill] will have a negative impact on inflation’ (it does, per the Congressional Budget Office).”

Psaki reportedly will host a show on Peacock, the NBC streaming service, as well as provide commentary on various MSNBC shows.

Concha acknowledged that it is a logical business decision by the liberal network to employ Psaki, whom he described as “the face of the Biden administration.”

“Given the lack of quality choices out there on the left, the decision by NBC and MSNBC to bring on Psaki makes sense. The question is, will she relieve herself of White House press duties now, to keep intact the credibility the network thinks it is getting? The answer: Likely not. But she should,” he concluded.

Concha also cautioned that many who have sought to become compelling opinion hosts have failed in that role.

According to Outkick media columnist Bobby Burack, however, “Psaki has promise in the television space. She is loyal, hypocritical, charming, moody and entitled, a ruthless combination that plays well on television. She also provides the name recognition that MSNBC lacks.”

“MSNBC won’t ask Psaki to tell the truth or hold herself accountable. It’s an ideal fit,” he also asserted.

According to American Wire, reports have emerged that “neutral” NBC News journalists are furious, supposedly, over the potential Psaki hire.

“The president of NBC News has been forced to hold a meeting with staff outraged over the network’s decision to hire Jen Psaki as an MSNBC host,” the outlet reported. “Noah Oppenheim held the call with staffers at the network’s Washington DC bureau over their fears that hiring the White House press secretary will tarnish the brand. According to CNN, Oppenheim told his journalists that Psaki would only appear on MSNBC, which is known for its left-wing opinion shows, and not NBC News itself, which bills itself as a neutral news network.”

  1. Why don’t they give her her own show and call it “Tall Tales with Peppermint Patty”!

  2. Open the Keystone, return the leases & stop pushing the fake GND and climate change. That will lower gas prices. Care for America

  3. Pshitski has proven herself to be a Cying Lunt. No matter where she goes, she’ll always be a Cying Lunt.

  4. Leave already, I won’t watch you no matter where you land. I would stop watching Fox, and Newsmax if they offered you a job, just because they would become bigger liers than they already are

  5. All I can say is good ridence pasucky. Take that fumbling half wit and his ignorant veep with you…Take polosi too… You are all wreckers of our wonderful country

  6. She would be perfect for a role playing a ruthless criminal defense attorney. One with no conscience, but maybe that last description goes without saying. One thing for sure, she stands out as having the most brains of any of the weak Biden Administration representatives that we see on TV.

  7. Doesn’t matter what garbage channel she joins! The news channel and Peaks are both useless! Wouldn’t watch either, ever!

  8. Quote, ” her thankless job of spinning a losing narrative on a daily basis..” Will she still stick to the Democratic party line? Will she tell the truth and not blame Russia for everything that Biden screwed up? She will have serious credibility issues.

  9. Joe Concha is right, as, Psaki lives to lie, and, lies to live. Something that she shares with Joe Xiden.
