Mayor Adams begs Floridians to move to NY, then FIRES mom who grills him over masks on toddlers

New York City Mayor Eric Adams fired a mom named Daniela Jampel, 38, who is on maternity leave and was an attorney at the Department of Law, after she crashed his press conference on Monday, posing as a reporter and blasting him for imposing a mask mandate on toddlers.

She was terminated just hours after grilling Adams over mandating that children under five years old must wear masks, according to the New York Post. The mother spoke up during a press conference where Admas took a swipe at Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis over his Parental Rights in Education bill while the mayor pandered to the LGBT community in front of a banner that ironically read, “Come to the city where you can say whatever you want.”

Jampel is a mother of three from Washington Heights. Her questioning of Adams over postponed plans to lift the mask mandate on toddlers on April 4 was caught on film and audio.

“Three weeks ago, you told parents to trust you that you would unmask our toddlers,” she asserted during the press conference. “You stood right here, and you said that the masks would come off April 4. That has not happened.”

“Not only did you renege on your promise, you had your lawyers race to court on Friday night arguing that there would be irreparable harm if children under 5 are allowed to take off their masks today along with their older siblings in school. So my questions are, what is the irreparable harm to children aged 2 to 4 take off their masks, just as they do in Long Island, just as they do in Westchester? When will you and will you unmask our toddlers?” Jampel demanded.

“I made the announcement that we were looking to announce today, which is Monday, to take the masks off children 2 and 4 years old. But I also stated, if we see an uptick, we will come back and make the announcement of what we’re going to do,” Adams replied.

“We’re going to pivot and shift as COVID is pivoting and shifting. There is a new variant. The numbers are increasing. We’re going to move at the right pace and that’s the role I must do. That’s what I stated. I’m living up to my promises,” he concluded.

Her honest questioning of the mayor in a city that claims any question can be asked got her fired. A city official condemned her behavior as she was given the boot.

Jampel tweeted after being fired, “Je ne regrette rien” which means “I regret nothing.” She then added, “The fight continues.”

In December, Jampel wrote an op-ed on the unmasking of toddlers for the Daily Mail asking, “Where is the outrage on behalf of our children, who have been forced to endure these restrictions going on 2 years? Why don’t we insist on the same quality of life — that we demand for ourselves — for our own kids?”

The law department where she worked is claiming that the decision to fire Jampel was made before the press conference but included a condemnation of her latest protest as well. The department asserts she was terminated as a result of “troubling claims about her work for the city Law Department” but refused to elaborate on the issue, according to the New York Daily News.

“Today’s events, however, which include her decision to lie to City Hall staff and state she was a journalist at today’s press conference, demonstrate a disturbing lack of judgment and integrity. As of today, she is no longer an employee of the Law Department,” a spokesman remarked, according to the Daily Mail.

Jampel is only one of many New Yorkers demanding that the cruel mask mandate for toddlers be lifted. Furious parents swarmed Adams as he arrived for a Broadway show on Sunday as well.

They angrily chanted, “Unmask our kids!” while he attended the Paradise Square Broadway Musical at Ethel Barrymore Theater on Sunday night, schmoozing with celebrities, the wealthy, and progressive elitists.

According to the New York Post, Adams vowed to end the under-4 mask mandate on March 22 but reneged on his decision on April 1. A Staten Island judge struck the mandate down on Friday, but Adams’ office appealed the decision and the order was kept in place.

The incident with Jampel follows Adams warning city staffers in a Zoom call that all communications from a public agency must first be approved by City Hall before being released to the press in an effort to control and contain the media.

“What is imperative to know is, you are assigned to an agency under a commissioner, but you work for me,” Adams dictatorially informed staffers. “The commissioner leads an agency, but I lead the city. I’m the mayor of the city and all communications that come through this city government is coming through my message.”
