Vice President Kamala Harris held an embarrassing joint press conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Friday where she gave a predictable non-response when asked by a reporter about soaring inflation and gas prices in the United States and how long that would last.
“If I can ask you madame vice president, how long should Americans expect — how long should we be bracing for — this really sort of historic inflation and some unprecedented gas prices?” the Associated Press reporter inquired after asking the president of Romania a question about what his country expects from the US in connection to the war in Ukraine.
Harris proceeded to look awkwardly at the Romanian president, likely to see if he wanted to respond first. Then she began a word salad that totally ignored the question making it obvious why many consider it a calamitous mistake to send Harris to Europe on a diplomatic mission that is all show and no substance.
“In terms of the discussions that the president Iohannis and I had, they ranged in subject including the issue of the Black Sea and I’ll let him explain in more detail as he would like, but we are again fully aware and apprised because we are in constant communication with the president, with his administration here about the concerns that they have about the entire region and frankly, the vulnerability. All you have to do is look at the map,” she strangely stated giving a bizarre non-sequitur answer that made absolutely no sense. It was apparent she did not even try to answer the question and instead brazenly ignored it.

As BPR reported last week, critics of the Biden administration were sounding the alarm about reports the White House was getting ready to send Harris to Poland and Romania amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

As predicted by many, her press conferences abroad have been notoriously weak and roundly criticized.
In an occurrence that has become common during President Joe Biden’s presidency, the broadcast feed unexpectedly cut out halfway through a response by Iohannis across all networks carrying the transmission as well as on the official website of the Romanian presidency according to the Independent.
Just before the feed was cut off, Harris noted that there were no clear signs that Russian President Vladimir Putin has any interest whatsoever in slowing down or halting his invasion of Ukraine.
“The United States has been attempting sincerely to engage in diplomacy actively. And from everything that we know and have witnessed, Putin has shown no sign in engaging in serious diplomacy,” she asserted.
Harris also claimed that Putin’s actions are straight out of the “Russian playbook.” A playbook of lies, misinformation, and acts of aggression in Ukraine.

“Difficult times. Your visit here is strength and living proof of our strong partnership,” Iohannis told the vice president at the beginning of the briefing.
“That is why I am here, to reaffirm our commitment to this partnership and also to the NATO alliance as a whole,” Harris responded.
Listening to VP Harris speak is painful. Can we get someone else to represent the US in the face of a humanitarian crisis?

“We take very seriously our role and the relationships that we have within the NATO alliance,” Harris stated. “We take seriously and are prepared to act on the words we speak when we say an attack against one is an attack against all.”
“We are firm in our commitment,” she continued trying to appear tough and failing. “When I say and we say over and over again, President Joe Biden says: We will defend every inch of NATO territory.”
“We are clear that the work that is to be done in response to Putin’s war includes standing strong within the alliance to support the needs of our partners,” Harris claimed.
As for Harris’ latest awkward moment, it got plenty of attention on Twitter:
Didn’t answer the question at all. Tried to defer to the other guy first because she didn’t know what to say. Talks in circles about nothing. Classic.

I’m starting to think we’ve been focusing on the wrong member of the Executive Branch’s cognitive decline. Something is really wrong with her.

My gosh she didn’t even listen to the actual question!

What kind of answer is that!??! First she looked at the Romanian president for a clearly US internal question, then she did not even try to give a vague answer at very least. Is she alright?! I mean is she ok!?

It would seem so.
