A young man from Florida has been contributing to the efforts to keep an eye on Vladimir Putin and his Kremlin cronies with his use of publicly available information to track the private jets of Russian oligarchs, an example of the ingenuity of America’s youth and a beacon of hope that leftist indoctrination hasn’t yet succeeded in completely leading future generations astray.
Jack Sweeney, a 19-year-old freshman at the University of Central Florida has put together his tracking system drawing on technology that was put into place after the 9/11 attacks to identify aircraft. Technology that he has been able to use for an algorithm focused on public data enables him to “uncover who owns the aircraft and subsequently track individuals across the world,” according to Fox News.
Sweeney, whose interesting hobby has set up two Twitter accounts, Russian Oligarch Jets (@RUOligarchJets) and Russian VIP & Putin Jets (@PutinJet) that post updates on the location of the flights.

On Friday, Sweeney appeared on “America’s Newsroom” where he chatted with hosts Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino about his project.
Perino greeted the patriotic whiz kid, “Hi Jack, good morning, you are 19 years old and you are a student and do this, well how do you do this?”
Young Sweeney explained, “Well, planes they all transmit their location, it’s more of a security feature after 9/11, instead of radar they all have identifiers and they transmit their speed and their location and all that and there’s like public data of who owns these planes so you can pretty much track whoever as long as you know who owns them.”
Hemmer asked, “I don’t want to give up your secrets Jack but is there an app for that?”
Sweeney replied, “Yeah, but the thing is a lot of these planes on these public websites are blocked so I make it more available for others to see.”
Perino asked, “So do you share that with anybody else, like is there anyone in our government asking you to help them?”
“No, not so far,” he replied.
“Jack, what have you noticed about the travel?” Hemmer inquired, “Any trends that you see?”
“There’s been some interesting locations,” the teen wonder responded. “I mean, there was one helicopter that looked like it landed on a yacht because it lost signal out in the water and was pretty low. Dubai, pretty much, one in New York, that’s about it.”
“And was that before America shut down the airspace to Russian jets?” Perino inquired.
Sweeney provided his valuable insight, “Most of the planes are not registered in Russia so they can still freely fly.”
Hemmer asked, “Ok, gotcha, what about the yachts, right? I mean, a lot of them out there, they’re big, they’re some of the best that have ever been built, right? Are you tracking those also?
“Not automated but I’ve taken a look,” Sweeney answered. “You can go on the websites like marine traffic and look all over.”
Sweeney, who first drew attention when he tracked billionaire Elon Musk’s private plane online, told Perino, “People knew I could track Elon so they knew I had the experience and on my Twitter I had a ton of requests to do this.
“Putin and the oligarchs, and you know that was the original motivator but now I see there is a lot more to it,” he added, “and I can help somewhat locate and give this information out to more people.”
