The hosts of Fox News’ “The Five” discussed President Joe Biden’s call to “fund the police” during his State of The Union address Tuesday night, but Greg Gutfeld wasn’t buying the president’s rhetoric.
“We should all agree: The answer is not to defund the police,” Biden said Tuesday. “It’s to fund the police. Fund them. Fund them! Fund them with the resources and training they need to protect our communities.”
Co-host Dana Perino led off the segment on Wednesday by pointing to members of the “squad” who were predictably dissatisfied with Biden’s alleged support for law enforcement, particularly Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) who posted her reaction to Biden’s SOTU address on Twitter.
“With all due respect, Mr. President. You didn’t mention saving Black lives once in this speech. All our country has done is given more funding to police. The result? 2021 set a record for fatal police shootings. Defund the police. Invest in our communities,” she wrote.

Naturally, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had to make herself heard, and left-wing media are always happy to oblige the junior congresswoman. She said that Biden’s speech “left a little to be desired” in its themes, but made the laughable assertion that Biden did a great job projecting the notion of unity.
Additionally, she tweeted, ‘There are some things that were left unsaid that we have to work on as a Party, in order to speak to constituencies who supported @POTUS, whose turnout we need, who perhaps haven’t heard their issues spoken to in the way they wanted. Things like student loan debt…immigration.”

When Perino turned to Gutfeld for his take on Biden’s apparent departure from the far-left wing of his party in terms of funding or defunding the police, the verbal slugging ensued.
“I’m not gonna let the media strategy of contrasting The Squad with Joe Biden to somehow reconstitute the myth of his moderation,” Gutfeld stated, and described the relative merits of The Squad, saying, “they’re stupid, they’re wrong, they’re unforgivable, but at least they’re consistent to their principles.”
And the thrashing continued:
This jackass [Biden] didn’t do a thing when cops were being killed,” he continued. “When businesses were being burned, he hid in basement, and only when it became politically expedient – when he was worried about losing an election and now when an election is coming up – all of a sudden he’s backing the blue because he felt it was better at the time to embrace the woke orthodoxy that put BLM above law enforcement. That’s what he did.
So I’m sorry, when I see CNN’s recently purchased conservatives – you know, those principled few – supporting [Biden] “Oh, isn’t this great? Look at him! Such a good thing!” You’re an idiot! Because this guy was nowhere to be found. Lastly, the thing that gets me crazy – I know a lot of people are pissed about these two Republicans that heckled – that’s nothing compared to this cosplay that you see, the stand up and applaud, sit down. No matter how stupid Biden says something, people have to applaud. This is kabuki applause line theater.
He concluded by saying, “For anybody applauding him supporting law enforcement, you’re an idiot.”
