Trump says ‘incompetent’ US leaders will result in China invading Taiwan, calls Ukraine ‘a holocaust’

President Donald Trump said the United States’ response to Russia invading Ukraine is resulting in a “holocaust” taking place in the country, and a loss of respect around the world.

“Our leaders are incompetent,” the former president insisted.

Trump joined Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo on Wednesday to discuss the Russian invasion and how it impacts the rest of the world. With a U.S. delegation meeting in Taiwan, Bartiromo asked if China has been emboldened by Russian aggression.

“Do you expect China to invade Taiwan sooner rather than later?” the Mornings with Maria host inquired.

“I do,” Trump responded, “because they’re seeing how stupid the United States is run. They’re seeing that our leaders are incompetent.”

Trump went on to explain that his certainty comes from the lack of serious response the United States has offered to the invasion of Ukraine.

“They did nothing on Ukraine. They do nothing,” he reiterated, before reminding that his administration provided anti-tank missiles while President Barack Obama’s administration had only offered blankets.

Of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump said, “He saw the way that we left Afghanistan like a surrender and left $85 billion and death behind, and left American citizens there that are still trying to get out.”

Between that and the failure in Ukraine, Trump went on to state that this would be Xi’s best opportunity to accomplish what China has wanted for decades.

“Our country is run by fools,” Trump said as it pertains to Ukraine. “We’re fighting Russia, we’re watching a holocaust, we’re watching something that I’ve never seen before,” he added, pointing out the indiscriminate killing as buildings with women and children are bombed and destroyed by the Russian forces.

Trump continued to highlight that as these travesties are happening, the United States is still buying oil from Russia. “We’re paying them all of this money for their oil and we have more oil than they do.”

On whether Ukraine should be admitted to NATO or not, Trump said this was a decision that needed to be made right now. “…you have to work out a deal. They have to stop killing these people. They’re killing all of these people, and they have to stop it, and they have to stop it now.”

Trump added that NATO’s weakness and failure to act have led to the escalations and Biden made a tactical error in stating publicly that he would not fight the Russians over their invasion. This has led to the need for the U.S. delegation, led by former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mike Mullen, to meet with Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen to reassure Taiwan of America’s commitments in the region, CNN reported.

However, Tsai may be less confident than Mullen about reassuring the people of Taiwan as her statements reflect more of what Trump has said about Biden’s failures to act. “History teaches us,” Tsai said, “if we turn a blind eye to military aggression, we only worsen the threats to ourselves.”

Tsai noted that Taiwan stands “on the front line of the battle for democracy” and its people have “deep empathy” for Ukraine’s “commitment to protect freedom and democracy.”
