Mike Rowe blasts Canadian govt: In the course of two weeks, truckers went ‘from hero to villain to goat’

“Dirty Jobs” host Mike Rowe challenged the Canadian government’s effort to turn truckers from “heroes to villains” amidst their narrative that demands facts be ignored.

Rowe, host of the podcast “How I Heard It,” joined Glenn Beck on his radio program Tuesday to discuss how the recent actions taken by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Canadian government are indicative of a broader issue impacting culture.

Beck asked Rowe if he was aware of what was going on in Canada to which Rowe immediately responded, “Oh sure, the truckers. Oh my gosh. Yeah.”

Before Rowe could weigh in further, Beck pointed to the fact that members of the Canadian government were reportedly auctioning off the seized trucks and that these protestors who’ve had their personal property taken haven’t even been charged with crimes or had due process.

“You know what strikes me about all of this? And maybe this is somewhat of a silver lining,” Rowe suggested, “I kind of feel like we’re about to close the loop.”

“When this started, truckers were right on the leading edge of heroes,” Rowe said, expressing a sentiment held by many. “They were the very definition of essentiality.” Even Trudeau agreed with this concept until he didn’t.

“In the course of two weeks, right,” Rowe stated, “they literally went from hero to villain to goat.” Beck then pointed to how this had been done with other groups like nurses and police, to which Rowe agreed more broadly, “Everybody.”

“We are constantly changing the definition of words that for a long time we thought we understood…those definitions are evolving in real-time,” Rowe said of the culture that allows for sudden narrative shifts. It isn’t isolated to Canada or to how people have been treated throughout the pandemic, either.

“Of course infrastructure involves reparations,” Rowe sarcastically expressed. “Of course that protest was peaceful.”

These notions are presented to the public as though they are based in reality and not just the expressed desire of those who hold power. These aren’t fictional examples either. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has stated on record that the United States infrastructure is “racist.” Of course, everyone remembers the “mostly peaceful protests from 2020.”

“We’ve been asked to simply ignore what we’re looking at,” Rowe lamented, “and pretend that a new language has come along with lots of words that we used to understand but no longer do. It’s confounding.”

The founder of the mikeroweWorks Foundation, a scholarship program that aims to provide for students enrolling in vocational and technical institutions, went on to discuss further troubles that society is facing from these denials of reality, like the ongoing jobs crisis.

On the subject, Rowe has repeatedly said, “This is no longer a matter of a skills gap or a few million people unemployed and employers frustrated because of the mismatch of skills. This is a matter of national security. I think it goes right to our identity as a people.”
