The U.S. Department of Defense is putting “woke” priorities first to the tune of 6 million man-hours focused on the implementation of a “leftist social agenda,” Republicans revealed Monday.
Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley provided a breakdown of the new training set forth after a request was sent to him by Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), Fox News Digital reported. Inhofe, the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee had submitted his request for information to the DOD on January 6, specifically as it pertained to extremism, climate change, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training.
While it has been known that the DOD has been implementing this new training under the direction of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, there hasn’t been a quantifiable measurement presented on the cost until now.
In the breakdown, Milley reported that over 5.3 million hours were spent on extremism “stand-downs,” or conversations about extremism after Austin had ordered all commanding officers and supervisors to address their personnel on his concerns following the events of January 6, 2021. There was an added cost of $535,000 in addition to the time spent.
Milley defended the implementation saying it was nearly the same as other programs, “This averages just over 2 hours per Service member in a total force of 2.46 million members and is comparable to other Joint Force periodic training requirements.”
The DOD issued a public statement trying to defend the use of 530,000 hours with an added cost of $477,000 on DEI training before this report came out.

Though not as substantial as the other trainings, the letter also laid out the $5,000 and 1,000 hours utilized toward the DOD’s Climate Adaptation Plan. The Armed Services Committee responded to this report pointing out the genuine international concerns the military should be focused on rather than targeting our military service members as the enemy and often indoctrinating them.
“We face real threats across the world,” the 12 Republicans senators led by Inhofe wrote, “yet the Biden Administration is more focused on promoting its leftist social agenda in the military instead of countering China, Russia, and Iran or creating an effective counterterrorism plan. Our military is not an extremist organization, and our service members, by and large all good people, are dedicated, faithful patriots.”
The letter emphasized that according to the DOD’s own findings, less than 100 members out of 2.46 million were found to be engaged in any extremist activity deemed prohibited. So nearly 54,000 hours of training were used for each of the rare instances of bad actors.
“We are alarmed that so much training time and taxpayer money was devoted to a partisan, political agenda instead of recruiting, training and equipping the lethal force we need to defend this country,” the senators went on. “The Department of Defense’s primary task is to protect Americans from foreign threats. If the Biden administration doesn’t make this a priority moving forward, we will use all tools at our disposal, including the annual defense authorization bill, to ensure that it does.”
The DOD under Biden’s lead has demonstrated poor allocation of funds and continues to be distracted by political agents and agendas. According to reports from Rear Adm. Peter Vasely regarding the debacle surrounding the Afghanistan withdrawal that led to the death of 13 U.S. service members, public relations agendas “stressed resources” and distracted from the mission at hand.
