Fauci joins new Democrat narrative that full blown pandemic is nearly over – just in time for midterms

Dr. Anthony Fauci has at least temporarily dispensed with his standard doomsaying in regards to COVID in favor of an uncharacteristic optimism that there may be a light at the end of the tunnel for Americans who have had their lives upended as a result of the government response to the pandemic.

President Joe Biden’s top medical adviser has given his blessing to the sudden reversal of Democrats who are backing off of mask mandates and other restrictions, a curious development given their two-year embrace of the historic health crisis as a means to accrue sweeping powers while weaponizing fear of the virus against their political adversaries.

In an interview with the Financial Times that was published on Tuesday, the man who has become the official face and voice of COVID proclaimed that the worst is over and suggested that the Biden regime could be on the verge of backing off of the controversial mandates that it has favored

The elfin career bureaucrat who has headed up the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since Ronald Reagan’s first term in the White House teased the end of the despised mask mandates that have been championed by Democrats and their allies, saying that they could “soon” be done away with but not providing a specific time.

“As we get out of the full-blown pandemic phase of Covid-19, which we are certainly heading out of, these decisions will increasingly be made on a local level rather than centrally decided or mandated,” said Fauci. “There will also be more people making their own decisions on how they want to deal with the virus.”

“There is no way we are going to eradicate this virus,” he added. “But I hope we are looking at a time when we have enough people vaccinated and enough people with protection from previous infection that the COVID restrictions will soon be a thing of the past.”

The nation’s top health official also appeared to dismiss the idea that everyone will need to receive regular booster shots, “It will depend on who you are,” he said. “But if you are a normal, healthy 30-year-old person with no underlying conditions, you might need a booster only every four or five years.”

Fauci’s remarks come at a time when it is becoming increasingly clear that Biden has failed to deliver on his campaign vows of being the man who would “shut down” the virus that was a major selling point with many voters who took the leap of faith and who are rapidly souring on the career politician in the White House’s empty promises and hostile rhetoric.

Biden and his fellow Democrats may have chosen a strategic retreat on COVID restrictions as a matter of political necessity with predictions of an electoral bloodbath of biblical proportions in the midterm elections as Americans grow tired of having their freedoms restricted while each new variant sets off a renewed cycle of mass hysteria and reimposed restrictions, as was seen when Omicron exploded on the scene.

Many who are skeptical that Fauci’s proclamation was rooted in any “science” outside of the political version took to Twitter to express their opinions.

The groundwork for what could be a pivot from the White House was laid last month when a series of papers from six former Biden health advisers was published by the Journal of the American Medical Association, calling for a major shift in strategy now that the “new normal” has been established and that Americans need to learn to live with COVID.

Biden and his administration have to also be watching events that have unfolded north of the border very closely as Canadian truckers continue to protest the tyrannical COVID mandates of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. A similar uprising in the U.S. would be a nightmare scenario for Democrats, especially in an election year.

While Fauci’s words may be met with optimism by many, the fact is that he has spent two years flip-flopping and putting out contradictory information – sometimes in the same day – and many feel that anything that he says should be taken with a grain of salt.
