Democrats and their cohorts are reportedly using the events of Jan. 6 to search for covert ways to prevent former President Donald Trump from being able to run for office ever again.
The left is considering the utilization of an old, post-Civil War Constitutional Amendment and according to Harvard Law School’s constitutional expert Laurence Tribe, the experts are being consulted over whether Section 3 of Amendment 14 would serve their purpose.
The section reads:
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.
“If anything, the idea has waxed and waned,” Tribe noted. “I hear it being raised with considerable frequency these days both by media commentators and by members of Congress and their staffs, some of whom have sought my advice on how to implement Section 3.”
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Maryland, Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-New York, and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Florida, are among those whose offices have contacted Tribe about the Amendment in question. Raskin currently sits on the Jan. 6 House Select Committee and Nadler heads up the House Judiciary Committee, so there are very powerful politicians pushing this theory.
“I continue to explore all legal paths to ensure that the people who tried to subvert our democracy are not in charge of it,” said Wasserman Schultz in a statement to The Hill.
Despite the idea being quite popular among Washington D.C. Democrats, Twitter users aren’t so sure:

Such actions would place us with other totalitarian states that masquerade as democracies, while excluding from elections anyone that might threaten or challenge the ruling party’s agenda.

Their was no insurrection. There was a riot chaos and vandalism.Democrats have a tendency to overstate and sensationalize for political advantage the average citizen can see right through this .
