It’s five strikes and you’re out on Twitter for U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), and she is now recommending that all Republicans, not just elected officials, migrate to other social media platforms.
“Twitter has declared war on our party,” the conservative firebrand told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Tuesday evening while chiding the GOP leadership for being all talk and no action about the ongoing censorship.
Upon assessing the fifth strike, Twitter has permanently suspended Greene’s personal account for violating the platform’s so-called COVID misinformation policy. The host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” introduced the segment embedded above by insisting that “everything she said was supported by federal numbers,” which was an apparent reference to sharing data from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), which is co-managed by the CDC and the FDA.
Carlson also called out the Republican leadership for doing “nothing” to get Greene’s account reactivated. He lamented that Twitter can silence any Republican, citing ex-President Donald Trump and Greene as examples, “who strays outside the lines that they have drawn.”
Greene, one of Trump’s biggest supporters in the House, responded that it’s time for the Republican conference in the House to take the censorship seriously and stop all the log-rolling and political theater.

Carlson runs his show primarily from a studio in Maine, with mostly remote guests as a result, but MTG actually showed up in person for the three-minute chat. It’s possible Carlson plans to do a longer conversation with her, perhaps for “Tucker Carlson Today,” the long-form interview series on the Fox Nation streaming service.
“Americans are sick and tired of investigations that produce nothing. No one ever gets held accountable; no one ever goes to jail. We don’t have control right now, so…Republicans in Congress can do nothing for the American people who have been silenced,” Greene explained.
“But when a private company that is not elected by anyone in this country declares war on a sitting member of Congress and a sitting president who happen to be both from the Republican Party, it’s up to our leadership and it’s up to our conference to do something about it,” she declared.
MTG was suspended for using a CDC VAERS chart.

While House Minority Leader and would-be Speaker Kevin McCarthy is “a super-nice guy,” Carlson remarked, he issued one more tepid statement that included a vow to revoke the Section 230 exception for Big Tech in the Communications Decency Act, rather than contacting Twitter directly and demanding Greene’s immediate reinstatement.
“How can you lead a political party if you can’t even do that?” Tucker wondered.
“Well that’s what a lot of people are asking,” Greene replied.
“But here is the situation, Tucker. I’m urging my entire conference, as a matter of fact, I’m asking all of them to leave Twitter, because Twitter has declared war on our party. And what are we going to do? Just sit there and go ‘oh, we’re gonna wait until we get the majority back?’ And then we’re going to have investigations. And then when we get full control, are we going to pass laws to stop this? Nothing was done in the past and nothing is being done now.
“So what everyone needs to do is do what I did. I went to GETTR, I went to Gab, I went to Telegram,” Greene continued. “I think everyone should leave, and I am asking my entire conference to do it….You don’t keep eating bad food at a restaurant that keeps serving it to you. You get up and leave and you go somewhere else where you’re treated well. And for right now, that’s what everyone needs to do while we have the freedom to do it.”
As a side note, if it’s determined at some point as a matter law that private companies like Twitter are operating as an arm of the federal government, the constitutional freedom-of-speech protections in the First Amendment would apply.
Carlson then returned to the theme of the muted, as it were, response by House Republican leadership rather than advising all of the lawmakers to stop using Twitter as long as censorship is prevailing.
“That’s what should be happening. I’ve had a different experience. I’m not used to people defending me,” the often-controversial first-term congresswoman admitted. “I’m used to having to defend myself. And the reason why I’m going about it on my own, and leaving, and going to GETTR, and being perfectly happy with it, is because I care about the American people. And I think they should do the same thing. We can make Twitter powerless when we all decide to leave, and that is how Republican leadership should be handling this situation.”
“If Kevin McCarthy can’t even defend you, he’s not gonna defend the country,” Carlson claimed in summation.
On GETTR, Greene similarly advocated a mass exodus from Twitter. “I’m calling on every Republican to LEAVE Twitter! The truth is under attack and so are our Republican Conservative values…It’s time to end their abuse of power they were never given. Leave Twitter NOW!!!,” she wrote, in part.
Through his Save America PAC, Trump earlier this week condemned undemocratic, “low-life Twitter” for de-platforming Greene.
President Donald J. Trump:
"Twitter is a disgrace to democracy. They shouldn’t be allowed to do business in this Country. Marjorie Taylor Greene has a huge constituency of honest, patriotic, hard-working people. They don’t deserve what’s happened to them on places like… pic.twitter.com/1k8EBViWTc
