The Duke’s Mayo Bowl saw one of the most cringeworthy moments in college football history as the announcers highlighted an unlikely duo during a brief lull in the game.
Mike Golic Jr. coaxed his partner in the broadcast booth, Anish Shroff, to share a unique snack during the Thursday morning game between North Carolina and South Carolina.
They dipped Oreos in mayonnaise. And ate them.
“Well, in the spirit of this bowl game and in the spirit of my partner Mike Golic Jr,” Shroff said. “Mike you came up with ideas of unconventional foods that work with mayonnaise.”
“Cream-filled cookies here,” Golic said, proudly holding up what looked like an Oreo.
“You first,” said Shroff, obviously incredulous at what was about to take place.

Golic proceeded to dunk the cookie in a full jar of mayonnaise and rake up a healthy blob of the white egg and oil-based condiment before popping the whole thing in his mouth.
“It’s a really interesting blend of flavors,” Golic said enthusiastically. “Thumbs up from me!”
Schroff reached for his cookie much more hesitantly.
“Oh Anish,” Golic said as Schroff paused chewing, obviously trying to overcome the gut-wrenching combination of the cookie dolloped with mayo.
“We’re gonna need someone up here to call that drive,” Golic added. “He’s not doing well. I’ve seen that face.”
“I’m working on it,” Shroff said after the camera cut away from the announcers and focused back on the field.
“Ty Chandler to the outside, still have this Oreo cookie in my mouth,” Shroff called out.
“I will say, the aftertaste, actually not bad,” Shroff added as he seemed to recover from his initial shock at the combination.
“I’m telling you!” Golic exclaimed.
“You’re one for one. Initially, I was scared,” Shroff said.
“You just gotta let the mayo wash over you, Anish,” Golic explained. “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and dip everything in mayonnaise.”
But not everyone agreed with Golic’s assessment, with many taking to social media to proclaim it a “crime against humanity,” and that the unlikely duo is “not of God.”
Even music legend Dionne Warwick weighed in.
🤢 @espn I need both of these young men to take a paid leave and really think about what is going on here. https://t.co/wwlw3nS8nS

The amount of mayo being consumed & the ways it is being consumed (Oreos, uncrustables etc.) in this bowl game is seriously grossing me out. 🤢 pic.twitter.com/jDL8yUzlRa

Other unique flavor combinations debuted at the bowl included such appetizing pair-ups as Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches as well as doughnuts dunked in the creamy white mayo.
Didn’t you get any creative juices flowing with those mayonnaise flavor profiles from the bowl game? For those who missed the mayo concoctions tasted by the booth reporters and sideline reporter let’s recap: 1). Oreos 2). PB&J Uncrustable 3). Doughnut.
