The almost two-year pandemic of hysteria continues as several major cities scale back or outright cancel their New Year’s Eve celebrations across the globe due to concerns over the omicron variant which has been reported to have “extremely mild symptoms.”
New York City will move forward with their iconic celebration in Times Square although only those willing to show their vaccine papers and wear a face covering will be eligible to participate in the festivities according to a tweet by Mayor Bill de Blasio outlining the control measures for the outdoor party.
Only about 15,000 will be allowed into the area to ring in the new year compared to the typical 58,000 people that are allowed in viewing areas during non-pandemic times. People will also be prohibited from congregating prior to 3 p.m. instead of the typical 9 a.m. entry presumably because… science!
“New Yorkers have stepped up tremendously over the past year,” the democrat mayor tweeted. “There’s a lot to celebrate and the additional safety measures we’re announcing today will keep the fully vaccinated crowd at Times Square safe and healthy as we ring in the New Year.”

DeBlasio’s restrictions came on the same day he made a statement claiming omicron will “be over soon.”
“It’s gonna be a tough few weeks, but it will only be a few weeks,” de Blasio said at a Brooklyn event. “Omicron has come on real fast, but it will be over soon.”
Although not required to attend the open-air event, many expressed concern that any revelers would be allowed to participate in the New Year’s Eve at all.
You want this to be your legacy? As a New Yorker—-please let this go. It’s dangerous and unnecessary. 2022 will come no matter what.

NYC is breaking daily infection records-22,808 today, yet you are talking about celebration. How absurd!

Not all are hypnotized by the fear-mongering of omicron and even leftist LaBron James even tweeted a meme that seemed to poke fun at the fact that the reported symptoms of a cold, flu and Covid all seem to be virtually the same.

Several other major cities have canceled ringing in the new year including several European cities including Athens, Berlin, Edinburgh, London, Paris, and Rome according to a report by Fox Carolina.
“Due to the surge in Covid cases, we’ve taken the difficult decision to cancel our NYE event in Trafalgar Square. The safety of Londoners must come first,” London mayor Sadiq Khan tweeted.

A spectacular NYE celebration showcasing our city will still be shown on midnight on BBC1 – I urge all Londoners to tune in. pic.twitter.com/a9tOJ7f9td

In Australia, home of some disturbing COVID-19 policies that reek of an Orwellian dystopia, the country’s largest city Sydney will hold their New Year’s celebration for ticket holders. While vaccines are highly recommended, they are surprisingly not required.
