Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and his brother’s top aide, Melissa DeRosa, were allegedly plotting to discredit Fox News’ Janice Dean for blaming disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo after her in-laws both succumbed to COVID in New York nursing homes.

The New York Post reported Friday night that Chris Cuomo allegedly called Dean “that Fox weather b*tch” in texts after she criticized his brother for transferring COVID-19 patients into nursing homes.

Another report from CNBC alleged that DeRosa, “ripped Dean behind the scenes and sought to craft a public messaging strategy that would paint the Fox News personality as merely a right-wing commentator” and also cited Chris Cuomo’s involvement in discussions concerning Dean.

The meteorologist lost both her mother and father-in-law to the virus in March and April of 2020. They lived in separate nursing homes and were not allowed to be together at the end. Since then, Dean has dogged Andrew Cuomo for the alleged “murder” of her in-laws and thousands of other elderly residents. She stated at one point on “Fox & Friends,” “He needs to go to jail!”

An unnamed source contends that Chris Cuomo wanted to defend his brother against Dean’s accusations and texted Andrew Cuomo’s aide on how to take her down. The source claimed that Chris Cuomo texted Andrew’s Cuomo’s staffer on how to go after “this Fox weather b*tch… Any help painting her as a far-right crazy?”

Other allegations include Chris Cuomo participating in calls with the former governor’s staff on how to discredit Dean by highlighting her political leanings.

Dean’s husband Sean lost both of his parents, Michael and Dolores Newman, following Andrew Cuomo’s directive on bringing infected individuals into nursing homes in New York.

His dad was an 83-year-old former firefighter and was residing in Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Brooklyn with dementia. He passed away on March 29, 2020.

His mom was 79-years-old and also resided in assisted living at the Long Island Living Center. She died on April 13.

Cuomo’s March 25 directive stated that nursing homes could not deny admission to someone solely because they had COVID-19. The policy was expanded to cover assisted living facilities on April 7. That allowed for the influx of individuals already infected who spread it to the most vulnerable to the virus… the elderly. Dean contends that many died because of that policy and Andrew Cuomo has never had to answer for it.

Dean is high-profile, non-political, and has been very vocal in telling her in-law’s story. Her recounting of the tragedy has ostensibly contributed to the downfall of the Cuomo brothers.

She told “Fox & Friends,” in March 2021, “We knew he was covering up the numbers and now we are getting more and more information and facts to prove this is true. And the fact that his top aide Melissa DeRosa was in on it to help cover up the numbers, to downplay them.”

“They have never apologized to the families, 15,000 that deserve an apology. The only thing the governor is going to be sorry about is that he got caught. You know what — he needs to go to jail and all of those around him,” she added.

She also spoke about Cuomo’s staffers altering the numbers of nursing home deaths to help in the sale of his book that painted him as a hero, “Promoting that book and making money off of COVID and the deaths of our loved ones is disgusting, corrupt and it needs to be investigated.”

“As I have said from day one, this was never about politics. I watched first-hand how the governor’s office treated grieving families trying to get answers about the March 25th, 2020 executive order to admit over 9,000 COVID-positive patients into nursing homes. Instead of addressing our concerns or expressing their condolences, Cuomo’s spokesperson Rich Azzopardi called us a ‘death cult,’” she told Page Six on Friday.

“Over the last year and a half, I have seen victims of Andrew Cuomo and those demanding accountability demeaned and smeared in the press and on social media. And now, with the release of texts and testimony from the AG report, we have seen black and white proof of both Azzopardi and Melissa DeRosa spending many hours of their days in office trying to smear Cuomo’s victims and retaliating against them instead of working hard to help New Yorkers and their families during a once in a lifetime pandemic,” Dean noted.

“So while I am not surprised to hear that the Cuomo’s administration alongside his brother Chris Cuomo were doing the same with me, I am glad these details are coming to light,” she said in her statement.

“None of these people cared about our families. They only cared about themselves and abused their power to try and stifle our voices. We’ve only asked for answers as to why our families were put in danger and the reasoning behind the massive cover-up of their deaths,” she asserted.

Rich Azzopardi, a weasely spokesman for Andrew Cuomo parsed his words carefully in reply to the revelation about Dean, “I have no knowledge of this ever happening, and you must ask, why then did the attorney general not put anything about it in her report or ask any of the relevant people about it?”
