Top General says Marine Corps will be revamped to ‘reflect America’

The United States Marine Corps could be on the verge of a major overhaul in order to align the nation’s premier fighting force with changing social values in an era when the military shifts its focus to promoting diversity, a top priority of the radical leftist ideologues who are running the show at the Pentagon.

In a Friday interview with NPR’s “Morning Edition,” USMC Commandant Gen. David Berger chatted with host Rachel Martin about the plans to reshape the corps “to reflect America, to reflect the society we come from,” while insisting that the changes are not about “being politically correct; it’s not being woke.”

Berger’s remarks come as the Marine Corps just celebrated its 246th birthday but now, like the rest of the armed forces, faces increasing political pressure to adapt to rapidly shifting cultural conditions in an increasingly dangerous world, especially considering the rise of China into America’s greatest adversary, a massive nation where the communist government has been busily honing their own fighting forces into a formidable machine that more than makes up for its lack of “wokeness” with sheer killer instinct.

The NPR interviewer sprung the following ambush on the general:

“I’m looking right now at the website where the leadership of the Marine Corps appears and your bio and photo…,” said Martin, “and your leadership team. And they’re all white men of a certain age – older. How do you want that perception both externally and internally of what a Marine is to change?

“The goal – I think as Secretary Austin points out, the goal is to reflect America, to reflect the society we come from,” Berger responded. “And we do on the front end. That’s how it looks when we come into Officer Candidate School and we come into boot camp. But over the course of 30, 35 years, it ends up not looking like what it came in to be. So we have to change that because if at the senior levels there’s a lack of that kind of diversity, it’s not being politically correct; it’s not being woke.”

The commandant added, “Actually, the strength of America is that we don’t all look the same, we’re not all from the same place, we don’t think the same. My experience in 40 years of being a Marine is our advantage militarily is on top of our shoulders. It’s not our – actually our equipment. We are better than anybody else primarily because we don’t all think exactly alike. We didn’t come from the same backgrounds.”

His remarks weren’t warmly welcomed by some Twitter users.

The commandant is promoting his Talent Management 2030 plan which he states is “The most important element of this report is the individual Marine,” and that  “Transitioning to a talent management system will enable us to better harness and develop the unique skills and strengths of our Marines, improve the performance of our units in competition and combat, and ensure that we remain ‘most ready when the Nation is least ready,’ today and into the future.”

In addition to Gen. Berger’s remarks, a job posting for a USMC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisor with a salary of $144,128 – $183,300 per year has caught the attention of some on Twitter.

The radical transformation of the military under President Joe Biden, whose “woke” Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has undertaken a purge of those deemed to be insufficiently “woke,” as well as the introduction of critical race theory indoctrination along with the upcoming discharge of what could be tens of thousands of troops who decline to be vaccinated is great news for the Chinese regime which is licking its chops.
