Don’t mess with Texas conservative Allen West?

West, the ex-chairman of the Texas Republican Party, has admitted to getting into an airport confrontation with an alleged mask-shamer on Wednesday morning.

The no-nonsense retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel is running for governor against incumbent Greg Abbott, who is seeking a third term, in the GOP primary.

His campaign website posted a statement about the encounter with a “left-wing partisan” who allegedly cursed out West out for not wearing a mask at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

“After being berated, West responded by flicking the individual’s mask off…DFW Airport Police arrived on the scene and a report was filed. Col. West has gladly spoken to the officers…West will not cave to bullying by progressive political punks. We look forward to a resolution on this matter, and as Governor, West will not tolerate abusive agitators. Rule of law and common decency will be defended.”

As a Florida resident, Col. West represented a Fort Lauderdale-area district in the U.S. House from 2011 to 2013 before narrowly losing a reelection bid under sketchy circumstances. He later relocated to the Lone Star State.

West provided additional details about the airport incident via his Twitter account.

“This morning at the airport a man starts yelling at me and tells me to put my mask on and calls me an idiot. I walked over to him and asked if he called me an idiot, he continued to yell at me. I pulled down his mask and said see, nothing happened,” he explained.

“He put up his fists and I walked away. I did call him a stupid man. I have spoken to DFW PD. There’s no mask law, nothing has ever passed in the US House and Senate making wearing a mask law.”

“DFW Airport police did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday. DFW Airport, like all airports, requires travelers to wear masks while walking through the terminal,” the Dallas Morning News reported.

Accosting lawmakers at airports seems to be a trend by progressive protesters as U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), for example, has recently found out.

Last month, West, 60, received monoclonal antibody treatment at a local hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia related to COVID-19. West nonetheless declared that he was “even more dedicated to fighting against vaccine mandates.”

“Instead of enriching the pockets of Big Pharma and corrupt bureaucrats and politicians, we should be advocating the monoclonal antibody infusion therapy.” His wife also underwent the protocol at the same time.

“As Governor of Texas, I will vehemently crush anyone forcing vaccine mandates,” in Texas, he vowed.

Col. West was scheduled to hold a press conference this afternoon to discuss medical freedom issues alongside several medical doctors. He also planned to discuss the ongoing illegal immigration crisis at the U.S. southern border. Reporters will likely ask him about the airport incident during the event.
