Oops! Dana Perino inadvertently reveals that co-host is pregnant on ‘The Five’

Fox News’ Dana Perino committed a bit of a faux pas on the network’s “The Five” Wednesday when she accidentally revealed to the audience that co-host Jessica Tarlov is pregnant. At the time, Perino was leading a discussion on the topic of what new things each co-host might have tried during the last year and a half of life with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I had a baby during the pandemic. I got a new haircut. I wrote a book, ‘How I Saved the World,’ still where books are sold,” said co-host Jesse Watters.

Then Perino turned to Tarlov:

“Jessica, you try anything new?” Perino asked. “I mean, you got something new coming.”

Tarlov awkwardly answered, “Yeah, and now the audience knows,” prompting a guffaw from co-host Greg Gutfeld.

As Perino sat temporarily speechless, Tarlov announced, “So…I’m pregnant,” as the rest of the group erupted in laughter.

Perino was clearly under the impression that Tarlov’s pregnancy was no secret, but that secret was evidently limited to her colleagues at Fox.

“You could have said anything,” Perino said. “First of all, I thought people knew. I am so sorry.”

“It’s totally — I, yeah,” Tarlov said, searching for what to say before going on. Referring back to the original subject, Tarlov added, “I also learned how to make sourdough bread, like everybody.”

“Okay, okay. That would have been a great answer,” Perino responded. “Can we congratulate Jessica all together?”

Co-host Dagen McDowell was quick to bring some levity to the awkwardness.

“I can’t top it other than — the only thing I can top it with is, like, partner swaps or orgies,” McDowell said to laughter from the table.

“No,” Perino replied, “and even that is not topping the news that we have that I thought was old news.”

While it was certainly not the way Tarlov wanted to announce her pregnancy to Fox News Channel’s viewership, a good time was had by all it seems, in spite of Perino’s blunder.

Perino, who served as the White House press secretary for President George W. Bush, recently shared her own news with the Fox News viewers. She broke the news last weekend that her beloved dog Jasper had died after a battle with cancer.

“It is its deep sadness that I have to let you all know that Jasper passed away today,” Perino tweeted about the canine who had been dubbed by many fans as “America’s Dog.”

Perino, a best-selling author as well as Fox News host, wrote about her dog in her 2016 book titled “Let Me Tell You about Jasper: How My Best Friend Became America’s Dog.”

“My deepest thanks to everyone at @foxnews and our amazing and loyal audience,” Perino wrote in an Instagram post. “You have tolerated my talking about Jasper for years (yes even you @realgreggutfeld and @jessewatters haha), you’ve sent beautiful paintings, and you’ve helped us have so much joy from his life.”
