For reasons that defy logical explanation, members of the left have suddenly become vocal proponents of picture IDs, almost as if they have no principles whatsoever.
Though known for smearing voter ID laws as racist, members of the left now argue that requiring Americans to show an ID to prove their vaccination status is perfectly fine.
One such leftist is New York City Council member Mark Levine, a rabid Democrat who in 2013 tweeted that voter ID laws are “unfair.”
Look:
VRA was critical in fighting unfair voter ID laws in 2012. Now #SCOTUS has ensured it will be harder to defend fair elections in the future.

The complaint above was posted shortly after the Supreme Court struck down a legal provision that had prevented Texas from establishing a voter ID requirement.
Voter ID laws are useful in preventing voter fraud, but leftists like Levine have long argued they’re “unfair” and racist because a disproportionate number of blacks lack voter identification.
In fact, for months now members of the left have been smearing Georgia and other Republican-led states for pursuing voter ID laws.
Yet early Friday morning, this same man excitedly posted tweets announcing a new vaccine mandate requiring NYC residents to show proof of vaccination and ID before being allowed to take part in public indoor activities.
Look:
NYC’s new vaccination screening program for indoor dining etc requires that you show proof of vax *and* ID.
If you have an ID—don’t forget to bring it.
If you need an ID—get the City’s IDNYC. Available to all including undocumented. How to get yours: https://t.co/vKp2RXXu4i

The ID requirement is to help reduce fraud. Venues covered by the vax screening program are required to check ID for those 18+. Checking ID for 12+ is optional.
The NYC Covid Safe app allows you to upload a picture of your ID if you don’t want to carry it.

But if voter ID laws are “unfair” and racist, then what is THIS?
Note that this policy affects blacks in two ways: Not only are they disproportionately represented among those who lack an ID, but they’re also disproportionately represented among those who haven’t been vaccinated.
So wouldn’t that therefore, by the left’s own logic, make this vaccine mandate racist?
(*Language warning)
As a Black immigrant I was told that requesting an ID was racist. So make up your mind is it or isn’t the ID request racist? 🤔

Wait wait wait. ID laws were racist a few months ago. What changed?

isn’t this racist, xenophobic and downright illegal, Markie?

I’m old enough to remember when this was systemic racism.

Imagine thinking you’re one of the good guys for backing this racist ass policy. Go fuck yourself.

Sadly, the tough backlash seen above triggered Levine into a meltdown.
“Today dozens of people called me a Nazi on this website. Pro tip: Don’t compare covid policies to the Holocaust. Ever,” he tweeted Friday afternoon.
It’s true that some critics did call him a Nazi.
I thought ID was racist and POC’s couldn’t get them???
NAZI!!!!

Showing ID to get a bowl of soup: fine, normal, good
Showing ID to vote: HOW CAN YOU BE SO RACIST GO BURN A CROSS YOU FUKKKING NAZI— flats (@redfish832) August 20, 2021
I heard asking for ID to vote was racist? Asking for ID to eat or walk inside a building is OK in Nazi York though?
— Lucas Jackson (@37LucasJackson) August 20, 2021
It was certainly a vile smear, but some might argue that it was no more vile than the oft-heard claim from the left that voter ID laws are racist.
NYC’s vaccine mandate went into effect earlier this month.
“Starting August 17, people 12 and older will be required to show proof they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use by the FDA or WHO for indoor dining … indoor fitness … indoor entertainment,” according to a press release from the city government.
The city further noted that actual enforcement of the law wouldn’t begin till Sept. 13th, though it didn’t specify how.
All that’s known is that businesses must hang the “Vaccination Required Poster for Businesses” seen below “in a place that is clearly visible to people before they enter your business.”
It’s not clear if patrols will be deployed to check or what exactly.

NYC isn’t the only Democrat-run city to go this route.
Since last weekend, anyone attending an event at Washington, D.C.’s top music venues and auditoriums has been required to either have a vaccine passport on them or proof of a recent COVID test, in addition to voter identification.
