A regular contributor on MSNBC, a left-wing network that traffics in conspiracy theories, claimed — without evidence — that power-hungry, death-indifferent Republicans are out to create a “white-nationalist ethno-state.”
Deadline: White House host Nicolle Wallace teed up the discussion upon the occasion of Joe Biden signing a bill awarding gold medals to Capitol Police officers for their service during the January 6 riot.
In the larger segment, Wallace and three narrative-compliant panelists — as part of the network’s newfound respect and concern for cops — lamented the trauma that the officers experienced and accused the GOP of allegedly downplaying the ramifications of what happened on January 6. Wallace also condemned a small number of U.S. House members who voted against awarding the medals.
That’s when MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson, in a form of projection or perhaps cognitive dissonance, decided to play the race card against the GOP while accusing them — rather than also the Democrats — of seeking power at any cost.
He also raised raising various straw-man arguments, as well as using the tell “honestly.”
“The problem — the sad thing honestly for me, Nicolle, is I know exactly where we are. And this doesn’t shock me. It’s not hypocritical — it’s actually very consistent for the Republican Party for the last 10 years or so,” Johnson claimed.
“They — of course they support police officers when you’re beating up black folks. So they — of course they support the blue when it’s Black Lives Matter. But they don’t like the police if the police stand for order in the face of white nationalism. They don’t like the police if the police stand for order against an authoritarian government that they desire. And that’s what this boils down to,” he continued.
“The Republicans simply want power. They want a white nationalist, you know, a white nationalist ethno-state. That’s what they want. They’re not subtle about it. Every voting legislation, every war they’ve voted for — that is what they have been about ever since Donald Trump got the nomination. And they don’t care who they have to sacrifice — whether that’s people in central Texas having to die over COVID or police officers in the Capitol — they don’t care who dies.
“They don’t care if it’s kids in Sandy Hook as long as it is about accruing power to a white nationalist ethno-state.”

“Johnson notably has such a history of hostility to police officers that he has accused law enforcement of being racists, and has claimed that he is more likely to be shot by a police officer than by an intruder in his home,” Newsbusters reported.
Johnson is a college professor, yet he seems unaware of the Democrat Party’s legacy of enforcing segregation laws and opposition to civil rights.

The relatively small group of wrongdoers, about 500, out of thousands who attended a mostly peaceful protest on January 6 are being prosecuted, although mostly for trespassing. No reasonable person has concluded that what the officers experienced on that day, including suffering injuries, is acceptable. And the officers who died since the event is tragic.
However, as many have noted, unarmed U.S. Air Force vet Ashli Babbitt was the only person who died on January 6 after being shot by a Capitol Police officer under circumstances that have yet to be publicly explained.
Moreover, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has never explained why one of her underlings denied National Guard backup for the Capitol Police. Don’t look for that to be discussed on MSNBC, however, by Nicolle Wallace or anyone else on the channel.

It’s obvious that ratings-challenged MSNBC and the Democrats plan (which is pretty much the same entity) won’t let January 6 go.
Plus, it’s likely that the House investigative committee controlled by Democrats, with a few Never Trumpers included for the veneer of bipartisanship, will ultimately issue a report that will bash President Trump and the GOP, in a form of political propaganda perhaps timed for the 2022 midterm elections.
Trump-obsessed Wallace, the failed co-host of The View, was communications director in the G.W. Bush White House and also helped drive the late Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign into the ground.
On the Stephen Colbert show earlier this year, Wallace described herself as a “self-loathing former Republican.” Others might describe her perhaps as someone — among many in the corporate media — who is willing to adjust her politics for a cushy TV paycheck or maybe even someone engaging what in another context is called LARPing (i.e., live action, role playing).
As far as voting against the police medals is concerned, U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie said that he was concerned the “use of the term ‘insurrectionists to describe the mob that stormed the Capitol could impact ongoing court cases. He rejected the notion that the Jan. 6 attack amounted to an insurrection — which Merriam-Webster defines as ‘an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government,” The Hill reported in June 2021.
“If they just wanted to give the police recognition, they could have done it without trying to make it partisan, without sticking that in there,” Rep. Massie noted.
