MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace on Wednesday urged Democrats to brazenly use the Jan. 6 Capitol riot as their platform for the 2022 midterm elections, admitting that “this is absolutely political” and referring to the event as domestic terrorism.
It is a premise that Republicans have expected Democrats to use ever since the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol. Hearing an MSNBC talking head openly admit it, however, is a stunning revelation.
Wallace asked Ben Rhodes, who was the former deputy national security advisor for strategic communications and speechwriting under Obama, “Here’s my question for you, Ben Rhodes. This is absolutely political. These are the political supporters of the most prominent politician in the Republican party. Of course, this is political. And I’m not arguing that this was a good idea, but September 11th was in the foreground of the midterm elections in ‘02 when Bush’s party held the — held Congress.”
“And I wonder what your advice is. I think the security questions of the Republican party as a domestic-terror threat, that were raised by the police officers whose political affiliation is unknown, should be front and center for the Democrats in these midterm elections,” Wallace continued.

Rhodes wholeheartedly agreed with Wallace that Republicans don’t care about law and order and that they are the real enemies of America, “Yeah, absolutely, Nicolle. This is a message that the Democrats should absolutely be driving between now and the election. Because it gets at the fundamental hypocrisy of the Republican Party that uses language about law and order, and about law enforcement, to conceal the fact they in fact are the danger to democracy. And they are the ones who won’t even back up the very police officers who protect them.”
Wallace concludes by soberly stating, “I hope they’re listening to you.”
Making the 2022 midterm elections all about Jan. 6 could very well backfire on Democrats spectacularly as the majority of Americans do not like what is going on in D.C. or in their wallets these days. Distrust in the government is at the boiling point here in America and the blatantly leftist Jan. 6 hearings are only exacerbating the problem.
Wallace has been playing up the Democratic-led investigative hearing for all its worth. She’s had numerous guests on to discuss it.
MSNBC contributor Eddie Glaude Jr. addressed the proceedings bringing race into the mix on Wallace’s show Tuesday. He was joined by political analyst Matthew Dowd.
Glaude claimed he was moved by the hearing where four police officers testified and he talked about the “white resentment” of Trump supporters who were present at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
“‘Stop the steal’ has everything to do with voters in Atlanta, in Detroit, in Philadelphia, in Milwaukee, in Maricopa County. Black and brown voters, young voters. So this is in some ways a white mob arguing for a white nation it seems to me,” he posited.
Glaude also declared that “white Christian heterosexual males” are “not satisfied” that they don’t wield more power in America.
He said it was easy to see “the loud racists,” but harder to pick out “the ones who are willing to compromise with them, the ones who are willing to allow them to jeopardize our very way of life.”
“The loud racists are who they are. The question is what are you going to do?!” he demanded. “What are those who claim to be committed to democracy, what are they going to do?”
Dowd also got his two cents worth in, disingenuously claiming that a third of the country has “constantly fought against” the ideals America strives for, “It happened in the Revolutionary War. A third of America sided with the monarchy. It happened in the Civil War. A third of America supported slavery and fought the union to try to break up the union. It happened in civil rights. A third of America fought expanded civil rights. It happened with women’s vote. A third of America fought women’s right to vote. And that third of America is still in the soil of our American republic. It has not been excavated in a way to remove the poison of it. And Donald Trump — give Donald Trump credit for one thing. Donald Trump recognized that when he came down that escalator.”
