The elite Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School in New York City is under fire after revelations that the school’s Director of Health and Wellness was teaching sex-ed curriculum to first-grade students, which included showing them a video about masturbation last fall.
Parents, who were not alerted by the school to the subject matter that the Director, Justine Ang Fonte, would be presenting to their six and seven-year-old children are outraged.
Fonte also taught students about gender identity and consent, instructing children that their parents and grandparents should not touch them without asking permission.
Fonte’s website says she has “reveled in disrupting health education for 10 years”
One outraged mother told the New York Post, “I’m paying $50,000 to these a–holes to tell my kid not to let her grandfather hug her when he sees her?”
The school responded to concerns, saying only a “small group” of parents complained and those who did “misinterpreted” the content shown to their children.
To be clear, the transcript of the video leaves little room for misinterpretation.
The little cartoon boy in the video asks, “Hey, how come sometimes my penis gets big sometimes and points in the air?” at which point a cartoon adult explains an erection.
The boy then says, “Sometimes I touch my penis because it feels good.”
The little girl adds, “Sometimes, when I’m in my bath or when Mom puts me to bed, I like to touch my vulva too.”
The adult explains what a clitoris is and then instructs the children to not touch their private parts in public.
Another mother anonymously voiced her frustration with the school out of fear of being “cancelled”, “We were horrified to learn this was shown to our first-grade 6- and 7-year-old kids without our knowledge or consent. But it’s so hard to fight back because you’ll get canceled and your child will suffer.”
It’s not just left-leaning cities that are seeing this problem. Schools around the country have implemented progressive curriculums including sex education and critical race theory for children.
One mother voiced her fear that children are being indoctrinated:
“Kids have no less than five classes on gender identity – this is pure indoctrination. This person should absolutely not be teaching children. Ironically, she teaches kids about ‘consent’ yet she has never gotten consent from parents about the sexually explicit, and age inappropriate material about transgender to first graders.”
This is not the first time Fonte and her curriculum have come under fire. Just last week, it was revealed that she was teaching “pornography literacy” to high school students. This included discussions about orgasms, porn terminology, and viewing clips from popular porn genres.
Jim Best, the head of the school, announced his departure last month after increased scrutiny.
Parents are reportedly banding together to persuade administrators to pause hires and consider input from organizations like FAIR and FIRE, who advocate for free speech and denounce “woke” policies.
A spokesman for FAIR commented on the woke curriculum evident not only at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory, but around the nation:
“This is all part of an orthodoxy that has taken over schools across the country. Millions of kids are being experimented on with a new curriculum that racializes and sexualizes young children, labels them by traits like skin color, gender or sexual orientation, and tells them the paths of their lives are determined by those traits.”
So far, there is no word on if the school plans to retain Fonte or flag controversial curriculum material for parents in the future.
