Caitlyn Jenner, a high-profile “transgender woman,” is reportedly mulling running against California Gov. Gavin Newsom as a Republican if the governor is recalled.

According to Axios, three sources “with direct knowledge” of Jenner’s “deliberations” have confirmed that the former reality television star has begun working with Caroline Wren, a longtime GOP fundraiser who helped raise money for former President Donald Trump’s campaign last year.

Both Jenner and Wren reportedly declined to comment when asked about these claims.

This bombshell news, first reported Tuesday by Axios, raises the fascinating question of how left-wing Democrats intend to square their fervent commitment to propping up transgender people with their equally fervent commitment to hating Republicans.

Suffice to say, would left-wing Democrats respect and honor Jenner’s decision because it’s important to prop up transgender people, as they always claim it is, or would they suddenly abandon their ostensible principles to “own the cons?”

Considering the left’s demonstrated commitment to abandoning principles at a moment’s notice, the answer seems clear. In fact, hardcore leftists have been screeching on Twitter ever since Axios published its report Tuesday afternoon.

Look (*Language warning):

They called Jenner a “delusional reality show lunatic,” accused him of being desperate for attention and even accused his family of “always grifting.”

How do you suppose left-wing Democrats would have reacted had a “transgender woman” who’s a Democrat faced this same sort of backlash and name-calling?

There’s no need to ask, given how the nomination and eventual confirmation last month of Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine, a “transgender woman,” was handled. Leftists labeled any and all criticism of him, no matter how respectful, “transphobic.”

When Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a licensed doctor, simply questioned Levine about his controversial belief that it’s OK to use hormone blockers on children, for instance, the senator was labeled “transphobic.”

But if a doctor questioning another doctor about controversial medical procedures make Paul “transphobic,” then what do insults aimed at Caitlyn Jenner make left-wingers?

If the rules were applied fairly and consistently by the left, it’d make them “transphobic” bigots or “transphobes.” Likewise, it’d also oblige Newsom to step down from office now to make way for California’s first transgender governor:

Of course, the rules never seem to be applied fairly by the left. They do seem to be applied fairly by the right, which is why it’s ironic to see left-wingers claiming that it’s the heads of Republicans that’ll “explode” over a run by Jenner.

Look:

These arguments are based on the belief that legitimate criticisms of transgender ideology are rooted in hate versus legitimate arguments.

But this viewpoint neglects to take into consideration the fact that it’s those who subscribe to transgender ideology who tend to exhibit signs of hate.

Writing for Substack last week, liberal journalist Michael Tracey noted that those who subscribe to transgender ideology dedicate a great deal of time to trying to censor and silence people by “agitating to have books purged from Amazon” and “using the tattle-tale astroturf outfit Media Matters to pressure corporations to crack down on political speech.”

That’s hateful behavior.

And suddenly throwing Jenner under the bus after screeching for years about how “it’s time for” the first this and that first that … well, that seems like hypocritical behavior.
