In a desperate attempt to smear Sen. Ted Cruz, left-wing media figures keep falling flat on their faces, to the point that they’re now whining about former President Donald Trump “teats” and claiming Shakespearean quotes aren’t from William Shakespeare.
And all this just to smear a sitting senator from Texas.
Shakespeare
Left-wing MSNBC political commentator Andrea Mitchell is a perfect example of this.
During Trump’s Senate impeachment trial Wednesday, Cruz reportedly panned the trial as being Shakespearean on account of it being “full of sound and fury signifying nothing.”
In response, Mitchell posted the following fact-check tweet:
.@SenTedCruz says #ImpeachmentTrial is like Shakespeare full of sound and fury signifying nothing. No, that’s Faulkner
— Andrea Mitchell (@mitchellreports) February 10, 2021
According to the MSNBC host, the “full of sound and fury signifying nothing” quote used by Cruz was from William Faulkner, not Shakespeare.
Following the posting of Mitchell’s fact-check, far-left Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin rushed to slam Cruz.
Look:
and it says volumes about his lack of soul. That’s Any Thinking Person.
— Jennifer ‘America is Back’ Rubin (@JRubinBlogger) February 10, 2021
But they were both dead wrong.
The quote Cruz used was from Shakespeare’s play “The Tragedy of Macbeth.”
The irony was not lost on internationally recognized, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald, a non-establishment figure known for his fierce criticism of the mainstream establishment media.

Even better are the journalists in reply to Andrea Mitchell acting like Every Smart Person knows this is Faulkner and only an utter cretin like Ted Cruz would attribute this iconic Macbeth quote to William Shakespeare:https://t.co/qa8vGJ4TaG

He had a point, no? Rubin’s attack on Cruz was reminiscent of failed 2016 Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s “deplorable” attack on Trump supporters.
The bigoted belief undergirding these attacks is that every conservative is a know-nothing “cretin” and “deplorable” deserving of mockery and disdain.
Yet, time and time again, Rubin manages to prove that she’s the know-nothing.
As for Mitchell, in fairness to her, her fact-check wasn’t written in a nasty fashion. It was still wrong, but it wasn’t nasty. More importantly, the MSNBC host chose to do the right thing and apologize to Cruz once she realized her mistake.
Look:
I clearly studied too much American literature and not enough Macbeth. My apologies to Sen. Cruz.
— Andrea Mitchell (@mitchellreports) February 11, 2021
Cruz of course took it all in stride — and in doing so, earned a little praise from Mitchell.
Look:
Methinks she doth protest too much.
One would think NBC would know the Bard. Andrea, take a look at Macbeth act 5, scene 5:
“[Life] struts & frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound & fury,
Signifying nothing.”— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) February 11, 2021
Touché
— Andrea Mitchell (@mitchellreports) February 11, 2021
However, no apologies have been forthcoming from Rubin. Surprise, surprise.
Teats
Another example of left-wing media figures face-planting comes from CNN’s Chris Cuomo, who ranted and raved at Cruz this Wednesday for a tweet he’d posted.
Earlier this week, a government-funded hospital in the U.K. announced a new “gender inclusive” language policy that’s apparently based on radical transgender ideology and not on biological facts.
The new policy from the Brighton and Sussex Maternity calls for replacing biologically based terms such as “breastfeeding” and “mothers” with ideologically based words such as “chestfeeding” and “birthing parents.”
Today we are launching the UK’s first clinical and language guidelines supporting trans and non-binary birthing people.

Responding to this policy, Cruz tweeted that it’s Orwellian.
Look:
Orwellian: The words “breast milk” are now forbidden.
Because science. https://t.co/TKuRqgUuHd
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) February 10, 2021
He wasn’t alone in complaining about the policy’s inanity.
Look:
One of the many stupid things about calling it “chestfeeding” is that “breast” is already a gender neutral term. All humans have breasts. It’s like using “Latinx” when “Latin” is already a gender neutral word. This is not the craziest aspect of the story, but worth pointing out.

This is birthingparentf***ing nuts https://t.co/Qv3EEB2xPR
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) February 10, 2021
I never cease to be amazed by the mindset of a fringe minority. Now there’s the ridiculous concept of “Chestfeeding.” If man tries to naturally breastfeed, simply speaking, baby will go hungry. Enough of this nonsense, for the sake of everyone’s sanity. We’re suffering enough! pic.twitter.com/1XxZWcYG8H

Chestfeeding? This woke nonsense needs to stop. pic.twitter.com/1E6ZJyf9Cg
— Jake Berry MP (@JakeBerry) February 10, 2021
But because of his obsessive hatred for Republicans, Cuomo, of course, chose to aim all his fury at Cruz and nobody else.
In a rant Wednesday evening, the CNN host demanded the senator stop worrying about random breasts and instead focus on detaching himself from former President Trump’s “teet.”
“He’s worried about how the term isn’t being accepted anymore, and he says it’s Orwellian. Orwellian? Sir, you are at a trial that you’re not even paying attention to, where you are saying that what happened didn’t really happen, because you don’t want to have to deal with the reality,” he shrieked.
“That, my brother, is Orwellian. Breast milk, why is that on your mind?! Focus, Ted. If you got off Trump’s teat a little bit, maybe you wouldn’t be thinking about breast milk so much. Do your damn job! If Trump had his way, maybe you, but certainly not all of you, would’ve made it out of there.”
Listen:
What Cruz had actually been doing during Trump’s trial that afternoon was arguing that it was illegitimate based on a number of factors — factors seemingly too complex for Cuomo to grasp.
