Fired up Newsmax TV hosts Diamond and Silk have called out Democrat Govs. Gavin Newsom and Andrew Cuomo as nothing more than purportedly modern-day slave masters for imposing additional COVID-related mandates on their constituents with Thanksgiving just around the corner.
“They’re putting all of these measures in place to lock our country back down again…Why are we locking these states down for a virus with a 99 percent recovery rate,” Diamond (Lynnette Hardaway) asked her broadcast partner. “And I’m sorry I’m glad that you mention the Democrat Party, which to me is the party of slavery.”
“These two governors are acting like tyranny dictators; they’re acting like slave masters. See, back during the days of slavery, you had the slave masters split people up…Now that they don’t want you to go to each others’ house for Thanksgiving. Why? Because they don’t want you talking to each other. They don’t want you to figure out what’s going on, because we know there is something going on. And this is not quite right.”
Silk (Rochelle Richardson) then questioned the constitutional authority of governors or mayors to impose restrictions without going through the legislative process first, an issue that has been raised across the country. “It takes the legislative branch to come in and set up the rules [for] these lockdowns. Who’s given these governors and these mayors the legal right to say what you can and cannot do in the privacy of your house?” she said.
Earlier this month, Cuomo among other edicts limited gatherings at private residences to 10 people. Similarly, Newsom’s recent rules, among other stipulations, required gatherings to be held outside only and limited to a maximum of three households with social distancing among them. Newsom was, however, caught violating his own rules by attending a birthday party for a lobbyist at an upscale eatery.
“You had Gavin Newsom out eating at a restaurant without no mask on, but no social distancing, but he’s locking his state down,” Diamond noted. The duo also criticized the limelight-seeking Cuomo for traveling out of state while imposing various restrictions on individuals and businesses under his jurisdiction.
She also praised the three Michigan GOP lawmakers who introduced articles of impeachment against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on grounds that she violated the constitutional rights of state residents through her coronavirus executive orders.
