Expanding upon his glowing endorsement of President Donald Trump for reelection, golf legend Jack Nicklaus discussed his personal experience with COVID-19, and weighed in on the president’s handling of the crisis, as well as questioning the official statistics.

As far as Trump’s performance is concerned, in the conversation with the Palm Beach Post which was a follow-up to the expression of support for the POTUS, Nicklaus dissented from the second-guessing that has occurred in political and media precincts.

In his analysis, no one can pinpoint if another leader “could have done any different than what (Trump has) done on the (coronavirus pandemic.) Has he saved millions of lives or has he cost us lives? Nobody is going to know that. If you’re objective about it, nobody knows that. I think he’s done the best he can with the people he’s had.”

Nicklaus, 80, and his wife Barbara tested positive for the coronavirus in March. Although Barbara was asymptomatic, his symptoms manifested as a sore throat and a cough. “Sure I was concerned. I took hydroxychloroquine. Gone in two days,” he told the Florida news outlet.

The Golden Bear, as Nicklaus was nicknamed during his illustrious PGA career, expressed some doubt about the accuracy of the coronavirus death toll. “I don’t think the deaths are a correct number. I hate to say that,” he noted.

He went to cite an anecdote about two people he knows whose parents allegedly passed away from a cause other than COVID-19 “and, according to Nicklaus, they were asked if the cause of death could be changed to COVID and declined.”

Nicklaus claims that there is a financial incentive in play for the healthcare sector. “The hospital gets more money with COVID death than they do another death. I’m sure there’s been a lot of that.”

In a six-paragraph endorsement of his golfing buddy Donald Trump, Nicklaus — who has already voted — acknowledged that some voters may be turned off by the president’s temperament or his tweets.

Anybody still undecided about to whom to cast their ballot, should look at the big picture, however, given that the president has delivered on his policy agenda, he suggested:

“You might not like the way our President says or tweets things — and trust me, I have told him that! — but I have learned to look past that and focus on what he’s tried to accomplish. This is not a personality contest; it’s about patriotism, policies, and the people they impact. His love for America and its citizens, and putting his country first, has come through loud and clear. How he has said it has not been important to me. What has been important are his actions…

“If we want to continue to have the opportunity to pursue the American Dream, and not evolve into a socialist America and have the government run your life, then I strongly recommend you consider Donald J. Trump for another 4 years,” Jack Nicklaus concluded.
