Left-wing journalist Glenn Greenwald has resigned from The Intercept, the site he co-founded, after editors there reportedly censored his article about alleged overseas influence-peddling in the Biden family. Greenwald posted his lengthy, eloquent resignation letter to a separate web portal and later went on Tucker Carlson Tonight to further explain what happened.

“The very outlet that I co-created — that was built on my reputation, my credibility, my journalistic accomplishment — then tried to intervene to censor me six days before an election because I wanted to publish reporting and analysis about the evidence that raises serious questions about the conduct of the candidate that all of the editors at that outlet vehemently and enthusiastically support,” Greenwald told the FNC host.

He also noted that The Intercept went along compliantly with the unproven claim from the “goons” in the intelligence community that the Hunter Biden documentation consisted of Russian disinformation even though there is no evidence that that is the case, plus “nobody including Joe Biden disputes that these emails and other text message are completely real and authentic.”

The Brazil-based Greenwald, who has been one the handful of intellectually honest progressive pundits, and saw through the Russiagate hoax, underscored how The Intercept spiked his essay because they wanted to protect Joe Biden, as most of the corporate media is currently doing.

In that context, as he explained in the statement that is well worth reading it its entirety that he said was written “with genuine sadness, not fury,” The Intercept has strayed from its original mission of journalistic independence.

“The final, precipitating cause [of the resignation] is that The Intercept’s editors, in violation of my contractual right of editorial freedom, censored an article I wrote this week, refusing to publish it unless I remove all sections critical of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, the candidate vehemently supported by all New-York-based Intercept editors involved in this effort at suppression… But modern media outlets do not air dissent; they quash it. So censorship of my article, rather than engagement with it, was the path these Biden-supporting editors chose…

“Rather than offering a venue for airing dissent, marginalized voices and unheard perspectives, [The Intercept] is rapidly becoming just another media outlet with mandated ideological and partisan loyalties, a rigid and narrow range of permitted viewpoints (ranging from establishment liberalism to soft leftism, but always anchored in ultimate support for the Democratic Party), a deep fear of offending hegemonic cultural liberalism and center-left Twitter luminaries, and an overarching need to secure the approval and admiration of the very mainstream media outlets we created The Intercept to oppose, critique and subvert.”‘

In the Tucker interview, Greenwald also pointed out that the formerly anti-war left in America has abandoned its traditional skepticism of the intelligence community because those agencies have become anti-Trump power centers.

“The reason [the skepticism] disappeared is because the CIA from the very first days of the Trump administration even before he was inaugurated devoted themselves to sabotaging the administration because Donald Trump questioned just a few of their pieties, and that can’t be done in Washington.  Who ever does that must be destroyed. So the CIA and the Deep State operative became heroes of the liberal left, the people who support the Democratic Party. They are now in a full union with the neocons, the Bush-Cheney operatives, the CIA, Silicon Valley and Wall Street.

“That is the union of power along with along with mainstream media outlets that are fully behind the Democratic Party, which is likely to at least take over one branch of government, if not all of them, in the coming election and that’s a very alarming proposition because they are authoritarian, they believe in censorship, and they believe suppression of information that exposes them in any kind of a critical light.”

Greenwald also underscored how media outlets love to hire anti-Trump, ex-CIA, FBI, or NSA officials to push out propaganda.

In a Twitter stream, Greenwald further called out the censorship that has now metastasized from the corporate media to his former platform, including the article in question and his back and forth with Intercept editors:

In this clip from Joe Rogan’s podcast, Greenwald talks about how James Clapper, Obama’s Director of Intelligence, promptly got hired by CNN. “That’s how you know that you live in a country, despite that the facade of democracy, has gone very, very off course.”

Greenwald’s former colleague Lee Fang also chimed in:

In a prior appearance with Tucker, he similarly criticized the media for erecting a “cone of silence” around the Biden scandal story.
