Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden appears to believe that America pretty much sucks, but that maybe, just maybe, it could suck a little less with him at the helm.
Early Wednesday, he sat for an interview with feminist Brené Brown, the host of the eponymously titled “Unlocking Us with Brené Brown” podcast.
During that interview, he trashed the United States of America — the same country he’s hoping to lead — by claiming it’s “never lived up to” its ideals.
But instead of just letting the remarks stay on the podcast — kind of like how what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas — Biden decided to broadcast it to the entire world.
He accomplished this by reposting an audio clip from the show to his Twitter feed. But not just any audio clip — rather, the clip of him trashing America.
Listen:
America was an idea. We’ve never lived up to it but we’ve never walked away from it before.https://t.co/VRCnKI0rfQ pic.twitter.com/xLuhhGyJVp
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) October 22, 2020
“America was an idea, an idea. We hold these truths to be self-evident. We’ve never lived up to it, but we’ve never walked away from it before,” he said in the clip above.
“And I just think we have to be more honest and let our kids know as we raise them what actually did happen, acknowledge our mistakes so we don’t repeat them.”
It was a stunning statement, and not just because it cast America as some foregone idea, but because the left’s embrace of the 1619 Project proves that it’s them who seek to not “let our kids know … what actually did happen” in American history.
As of Thursday morning, the tweet boasted almost twice as many comments as retweets, meaning it’d been effectively “ratioed.” In fact, it had almost as many comments — around 17,000 — as likes, which were around 25,000 at the time.
Meanwhile, the post boasted about 9,500 retweets, but even most of them appeared to be negative.
Case in point:
.@JoeBiden we have lived up to that “idea” for millions of people during our complex history. America is STILL an idea

What a DISGUSTING thing to say! Did the maimed & mauled Marines that I treated on the battlefield in Iraq not live up to your corrupt standard of being an American? This is the most anti-American thing a Presidential candidate has EVER said. Absolutely disgraceful!! https://t.co/oAgyl3JQpA

Tell that to our servicemen and women.
Tell that to the ones who sacrificed, who lost their lives.
Tell that to the immigrants who left their home country to be free.We are so much more than idea.
Joe, you may not have lived up to “it,” but so many millions of people have. https://t.co/bqjiZRkN2p

And, yes, we’ve lived up to it again and again.
Is there a market outside the far-left for this America-bashing drivel? https://t.co/yMHDWdYsCy

Note the question posed by Jon Gabriel: “Is there a market outside the far-left for this America-bashing drivel?”
Truth be told, there may not even be a market outside of America where one can find as much “American-bashing drivel.”
One certainly would have difficulty finding it in the U.K., where British commentator Piers Morgan recently warned Biden that he’ll be “history” unless Democrats distance themselves from the discredited 1619 Project and stop trashing America.
“Trump is right, the 1619 Project promotes fake history and if Democrats keep trying to make Americans feel ashamed of Independence Day and back BLM protesters who scream at white diners, Biden will be history too,” he opined last month.
He added that this would be a great boon for President Donald Trump.
“As I’ve written before, the struggling President is desperate for the election in November not to be a referendum on his woeful handling of the coronavirus pandemic which has cost nearly 200,000 American lives and devastated the economy,” he wrote.
“If he can make it about liberals trying to make Americans ashamed of their history, it will be a vote-winner for him. Yet liberals seem totally oblivious to this and continue to perform acts of stupendous political self-harm.”
Morgan’s remarks about the president’s allegedly “woeful handling of the coronavirus pandemic” prove that he’s no Trump groupie or sycophant. Yet even he sees the writing on the wall vis-a-vis the left’s embrace of anti-Americanism.
Biden clearly doesn’t. Or at least he didn’t. Perhaps after he views the avalanche of negative comments that have erupted in response to his tweet, he’ll wake up.
America is the best country in the world. The American people are the best people. Americans are identified in foreign counties by our smiles & our happiness. That’s because the idea of America turned out to be a grand success.
You detest the very people you want to lead. GTFO.

We’ve NEVER lived up to it? EVER? Wish you could tell that to Eisenhower, Patton, MacArthur, Truman, FDR, U.S. Grant, Sherman, Lincoln, 9/11 first responders, SEAL Team 6, et al. This is an embarrassing comment and insulting to the average American’s intelligence.

“The first step to ruin a country’s identity is to take down its history.”
That’s what globalism did to my prosperous country Iran back in 1979. See what happened then… A complete chaos.

Since 1775 and Paul Reveres famous midnight ride, America is just an idea? What a disrespect to the military and all those WW2 veterans like my Grandfather who went to fight for his country after Pear Harbor. He didn’t think America was just an idea he stood up for it.

The American people lived up to it for 250 years. Grew as a nation, saved the world, and built the greatest, most influential country in history.
