Country music icon Dolly Parton says that she is considering a second appearance on the cover of Playboy to commemorate her 75th birthday in January 2021 if the artwork is presented tastefully. She originally appeared in a bunny suit on the cover of the magazine — which many people at this point are probably surprised still exists — in the October 1978 issue.

Parton revealed the following on a BBC Radio 5 interview: “Well, there’s some truth in that. I just might do it, if I can do it in good taste and they want it [and] we’ll do it along with a really good interview inside. So, yeah, it’s possible. We’ve talked about it, let’s put it that way.”

This is not the first time that she broached the subject of appearing in the Hugh Hefner-founded publication, however. In March, the legendary songstress/actress/producer who is also known for her philanthropy told 60 Minutes Australia that “Well, I don’t plan to retire. I just turned 74, [and] I plan to be on the cover of Playboy magazine again.” Parton added that she probably could still fit in the Playboy bunny garb and described the potential return engagement as a ‘hoot.”

The U.K. interview apparently came about because Parton is currently promoting her third Christmas compilation called “A Holly Dolly Christmas,” her 47th studio album overall. Along these lines, as part of an ongoing content deal with Netflix she is the also the star and executive producer of Christmas on the Square, a film that will become part of the streaming service’s catalog, and is based on one of her tunes.

Playboy is now all digital and has not yet made an official statement about whether Dolly Parton could conceivably show up on the “cover.”

Parton also told the Scott Mills and Chris Stark Show on the BBC network that she still begins her work day at 3 a.m. “I do some of my best work in the morning between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. I don’t sleep my life away.”

Some, but not all, Dolly Parton fans on social media are, so far, less than enthusiastic about the potential Parton-Playboy cover shoot. Here is a sample:
