At the conclusion of a wide-ranging TV interview, U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr politely laughed in Wolf Blitzer’s face when the CNN anchor described his network as “fair and balanced.”
Blitzer prompted the exchange (see the clip embedded below) by asking Barr if he wants to serve in the second term of the Trump administration. Barr deflected that question by responding that it’s too presumptuous to get into it at this stage.
When Blitzer asked him if he is enjoying his job the second time around, a jovial Barr said that “I wouldn’t use the word enjoy, but it’s satisfying.”
Barr then got serious and went on to call out media bias that has gotten so much worse since he served as AG under President George H.W. Bush.
“Well, the political climate and the media was a lot different…the media should be fair and balanced no matter who the president is. Doesn’t give the media a license to lie the way a lot of the media is.’
Blitzer then chimed in that “I can speak for us. We are fair and balanced. I’m sure you would appreciate that.”
That’s when Barr laughed and charitably said “okay.”
Agreeing with Blitzer that the two presidents were quite different, Barr added that President Trump has been called upon to deal with an entirely different set of issues than what was in play during the elder Bush’s term in office.
Fair and balanced is obviously the motto of Fox News, also-ran CNN’s rival for viewership.
Despite what Blitzer is claiming, anyone who tunes in can immediately recognize CNN’s 24-7 vendetta against the president, who has accordingly and repeatedly called out the network for fake news.
During the same interview, Barr also educated Blitzer about the fraud inherent in universal mail-in voting.

As a thought experiment, imagine the impact on history if Trump had picked a forceful, self-confident lawyer like Barr rather than Jeff Sessions for AG at the beginning of his administration.
Pro-Trump Twitter took note of Blitzer’s exaggeration. Here is a sample.
I’m surprised BB didn’t fall off his chair laughing 😂

I love it when Barr starts laughing; it was the best part of his congressional hearing. 😂 When I look at our enemies, I think there is no way we won’t win; these people all have something wrong with them 🤣🤣😬

They have no problem lying to AG Barr’s face. I don’t think they’ve ever been fair to our President.

I ❤️ Barr… he’s a straight talker and nobody’s fool

SADLY, Wolf Blitzer ACTUALLY BELIEVES he is fair and balanced … he’s kind of coming off like Joe Biden …

My husband and I were watching this together and we both burst out laughing when Wolf said that.
Then, right after the interview ended they did exactly that. Tore apart everything Barr said with their misinterpretation of the truth.

This is solid gold! I love Barr!

Nothing funnier than hearing someone that works for CNN or MSNBC claim they are fair and balanced.

Barr’s reaction is echoed across the country…you guys aren’t fooling anyone 🤣
— Lis (@lis_bri) September 2, 2020
Even Blitzer can hardly get the lies out of his mouth.

Well that didn't go the way Wolfy and CNN intended at all 😂
Thank you AG Barr. pic.twitter.com/bp1eNldBQX
