Lou Dobbs: ‘Mitch McConnell is doing a Paul Ryan. He’s about to lose the Senate’

Lou Dobbs of the Fox Business Network apparently believes that  Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is pulling a Paul Ryan and, as a result, the GOP is on track to lose the U.S. Senate under McConnell’s ill-advised election strategy.

In a discussion with Dallas evangelical leader Robert Jeffress on Lob Dobbs Tonight, the host seemed to assail McConnell for interfering in Republican primaries in favor of presumed moderate candidates who are less supportive of the Trump agenda.

“You’ve got very good, strong candidates, but not to the liking of Mitch McConnell. They’re too conservative, they’re not reliable for him like, you know, John Thune, and a few of these other folks. It’s a shame to see it….every one of these senators should be standing up for [President Trump]. I really believe that Mitch McConnell [is] doing a Paul Ryan. He’s about to lose the Senate because of this ridiculous attitude of his.”

Both men are far more optimistic about the Republicans holding on to the White House.

Said Pastor Jeffress, “Just remember, Lou, President Trump won without them in 2016, and he’s going to win without them in 2020.”

“He is, but I’d sure like to see some great pro-Trump folks get in there,” Dobbs replied.

A McConnell-affiliated political action committee is reportedly on a spending spree with TV ads to try to help the GOP opponent of immigration hawk Kris Kobach in the upcoming GOP primary. McConnell and the Republican leadership ‘have told all the senators not to run with this president, attach themselves to his coattails,” McConnell said.

As a member of the U.S. House, Paul Ryan developed a stellar reputation as a reformer and budget expert.

As soon as he became House Speaker, however, something seemed to change. Many believe he seemingly sabotaged the Trump agenda and became a full-on RINO, in the process hardly lifting a finger to prevent the Democrats from taking control of the chamber in the November 2018 election. This far-left takeover has had disastrous consequences for the country.

Last year, President Trump called out Ryan, now a member of the Fox News board of directors, for almost destroying the Republican Party.

In the interview with Pastor Jeffress, Dobbs assailed a group of RINO and Never Trump grifters for spending millions on TV commercials trying to discourage evangelicals in battleground states from voting to reelect Trump.

The pastor described the massive expenditure as “fool’s gold.”

“Joe Biden will never get more than 17% of the evangelical vote, the same amount that voted for Hillary Clinton, and there’s a reason for that.

“The masses of evangelical voters don’t care about the president’s tweets or his temperament, they care about his accomplishments, and he’s got a long list of those accomplishments. Two hundred federal judges, conservatives, appointed to the court, record pro-life legislation initiatives. Record pro-religious liberty initiatives as well. The 2016 election was about promises, 2020 is about accomplishments, and that’s why evangelicals are going to vote en masse for Donald J. Trump.”

Despite the possible looming setback in the Senate, which could make future judicial confirmations problematic at best, let alone getting any legislation through, both men agreed — as alluded to above — that Trump will win reelection in November.

According to Real Clear Politics, six GOP seats in the Senate are in the tossup category.
