MSNBC opinion host Chris Matthews issued a groveling apology to Senator Bernie Sanders for comparing the Jewish socialist‘s recent campaign surge to the Nazi conquest of Europe at the beginning of World War II.

“Before getting into tonight’s news, I want to say something quite important and personal,” Matthews said on his MSNBC show “Hardball.” “As I watched the one-sided results of Saturday’s Democratic caucus in Nevada, I reached for an historical analogy and used a bad one.”

Matthews continued: “Senator Sanders, I’m sorry for comparing anything from that tragic era in which so many suffered — especially the Jewish people — to an electoral result in which you were the well-deserved winner. This is going to be a hard-fought, heated campaign of ideas. And in the weeks and months ahead, I’ll strive to do a better job myself of elevating the political discussion.”

Matthews then prostrated himself to Bernie’s violent supporters by saying: “Congratulations to you, Senator Sanders, and to your supporters on a tremendous win in Nevada.”

It’s not surprising that Chris Matthews genuflected at the altar of radical leftism after igniting widespread outrage for his tone-deaf remarks.

Many on the Left demanded that Matthews be fired for his smear, since the media is apparently only allowed to call President Trump and his supporters “Nazis.”

Unfortunately, the media have gotten too comfortable labeling anyone they dislike or disagree with as “Nazis.” This is not the first time that MSNBC has compared Bernie Sanders (who lost family members in the Holocaust) to Nazis.

Two weeks ago, “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd got torched on Twitter for reciting a quote from an article that smeared Bernie supporters as a “digital brown-shirt brigade.”

Enraged Bernie Bros demanded Todd’s firing and got the hashtag “Fire Chuck Todd” trending on Twitter.

Some Twitter users called Chuck Todd an antisemite. This isn’t surprising, since the Democrat Party is swarming with antisemites.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party is being fractured amid a nasty civil war between the far-left faction that supports socialism and the moderates who are alarmed by the radical policies of Dem presidential frontrunner Bernie Sanders.

The situation has gotten so heated that two Florida Democrats filed a lawsuit this week to remove Sanders from the ballot in that state.

The plaintiffs insist that Sanders — a registered Independent — should be disqualified from the Democratic primary race because he is “clearly not a Democrat.” Moreover, they fear that having a socialist “interloper” in their primary election would dilute and silence their votes.

While Trump supporters are having fun enjoying the Democrats destroy each other, former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders warned Trump fans not to underestimate Sanders, who’s building momentum.

“Republicans have to be extremely careful,” Sanders said. “We can take nothing for granted. The stakes have literally never been higher.”

Like millions of other Americans, Sarah Sanders warned that the rise of socialism would destroy the United States and obliterate the American way of life.

While Bernie Sanders and his acolyte Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are trying to turn the United States into communist Cuba, President Trump vows that “America will never be a socialist country.”
