Typical logic: Dems are so mad that Bolton didn’t testify that they want you to boycott his book

Despite former National Security Adviser John Bolton’s attempts to save his legacy by essentially appeasing the left, the strategy appears to be failing.

The problem is that his legacy is mostly a right-wing one — he’s a veteran of the Bush and Reagan administrations, and he’s always advocated for attacking terrorists, not mollifying them — whereas the people he’s trying to appease are left-wingers.

In short, he’s still a “creepy, greedy Republican” (*Language warning):

His strategy of appeasement has centered on writing a still-unreleased memoir detailing his experiences working under President Donald Trump, and then seemingly allowing parts of the manuscript to leak to the media. While it’s still unclear who’s been behind the leaks, Bolton remains the primary suspect.

His strategy has also involved vowing to testify before Congress about Trump, but only under certain circumstances. When House Democrats pleaded with him to testify last year, he refused on the grounds that he’d only testify if he were subpoenaed. He repeated this refrain last month when asked about testifying before the Senate:

But with the GOP-led Senate having first voted Friday to not allow any witnesses in the president’s trial and then scheduled the president’s acquittal for next Wednesday, Democrats hoping to learn something from Bolton that might help them take down the president are straight out of luck. Meanwhile, Bolton’s book is slated to go on sale on March 17.

Some among the anti-Trump Democrat base are none too pleased about these circumstances, from Bolton refusing to testify unless subpoenaed to him potentially profiting off his manuscript, and, of course, being a Republican.

“Don’t Buy John Bolton’s Book Unless He Speaks Out Now!” reads one Change.org petition with 44 signers.

“Boycott Simon & Schuster’s book deal with John Bolton,” reads another petition with 155 signers.

Over at Crooked Media, a political media operation launched three years ago by two of former President Barack Hussein Obama’s staffers, the hosts of one of the company’s podcasts have urged Democrats to literally pirate Bolton’s book.

“You don’t have to buy John Bolton’s book,” Akilah Hughes, a blue checkmark “Twitterati” member, said on the latest edition of the company’s “What A Day” podcast.

In fact, you should not buy John Bolton’s book. Do not give John Bolton money. Go on Tor, and download, pirate a copy of it like it’s an episode of ‘Girls,’” she said.

Tor is a special browser that affords users total anonymity on the internet by making it impossible for tech giants like Google, among others, to track their movement,  behavior, identity, etc. However, it’s sometimes used by people looking to partake in illegal activities of some kind, be it the purchasing of drugs, the viewing of child porn or the illegal download of copyrighted material.

Listen from the 1:55 mark below:

Meanwhile, social media is teeming with angry Democrats encouraging others to #BoycottJohnBoltonBook and go read it elsewhere such as perhaps the library, especially if he refuses to come out publicly in some fashion or another and give up the goods on Trump that he allegedly possesses.

Look:

Even some elected members of Congress feel this way.

“I don’t think anyone should buy the book,” Florida Rep. David Jolly bluntly said Friday on MSNBC.

Listen:

So if liberal Democrats aren’t planning to buy Bolton’s book, and conservative Republicans likewise have no interest in handing their money over to such a “petty, snarling Lilliputian,” then who’s going to buy his book?

That remains to be seen …
