Retired ICE Director Tom Homan called out Sen. Elizabeth Warren and her plan to use taxpayer dollars to tear down parts of the border wall.
The former Acting Director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement told “Fox & Friends” hosts that President Trump has “answered the call” and is “doing the right thing” with meeting the needs expressed by Border Patrol agents, despite the narrative being pushed by Democrats and unrealistic plans like Warren’s.

“She’s proven that she’s not very smart,” Homan said of Warren, reacting to her vow during this week’s Democrat presidential primary debate to take down sections of the border wall — using taxpayer money — if she is elected.
The Massachusetts senator and 2020 Democratic hopeful blamed Trump for creating a border “crisis” and vowed to remove any part of the already constructed border wall that was not “useful.”
“If there are parts of the wall that are not useful in our defense, of course we should do it,” the progressive senator said in response to a debate question. “The real point here is that we need to stop this man-made crisis at the border — [President] Trump is the one who has created this crisis.”

“Why would you tear down a wall when the data clearly shows where they built a border barrier, illegal immigrations went down, drug smuggling went down,” Homan said on Fox News. “It’s already paid for, it’s sitting there, it’s a tool the Border Patrol wants and uses and it’s successful.”
“I mean it would be like her taking the front door off her house. Would she do that?” he asked, continuing to criticize Warren’s proposal. “Border numbers are down 65 percent. She can’t fight that.”
When it was noted that the Democrat had said she would consider leaving up the border wall portions that were needed for national security and defense, Homan replied: “It’s all needed for national security.”
He went on to praise the president and the idea to set up web cameras to livestream construction along the border wall, saying it will deflate the narrative being pushed by Democrats that no new wall construction is happening but just existing wall portions are being replaced.
According to Fox News:
Under the Trump administration, 81 miles of border wall, most of which was built as “replacement” barrier to reinforce older fencing, has been completed. The new barriers built of steel bollards stand anywhere from 18 to 30 feet tall.
An additional 155 miles of border fencing is currently under construction. And 273 miles are under “preconstruction,” according to the most recent CBP data. The Trump administration aims to build a total of 400 to 500 miles of border wall to complete the project. The project has been facing delays as officials work to acquire privately held land in Texas along the U.S.-Mexico border.
“The wall is being built on the prioritization of the experts on the border,” Homan explained, insisting that Trump is “doing exactly what the Border Patrol wants him to do.”
“The president’s answered their call, he’s doing the right thing with the Border Patrol and they’re loving him for it,” he said, adding that “there’s no doubt in my mind the president’s going to kick some butt in 2020.”
“America loves a secure border. A sixty-five percent decline in illegal immigration because of President Trump,” the former ICE chief continued. “Congress hasn’t offered him one idea, one fix. The courts are fighting him every step of the way.”
“He’s a great president,” Homan concluded. “That’s why I love the guy.”
