“Emergency responders received a 911 call around 6:40 a.m. at Metropolitan Correctional Center, where Epstein was being held without bail, awaiting trial on charges of conspiracy and sex trafficking,” ABC News affiliate WTVD confirmed.
“A gurney carrying a man who looked like Epstein was wheeled out of the Manhattan Correctional Center around 7:30 a.m. The ambulance went to New York Downtown Hospital,” the New York Post added.
Upon arrival, he was reportedly in cardiac arrest.
The suicide comes roughly two weeks after Epstein, who was arrested and charged with sex trafficking underage girls early last month, was placed on suicide watch after what appeared to be a failed suicide attempt.
At the time he was found nearly unconscious with marks on his neck at a cell in the same Manhattan facility, the Metropolitan Correctional Center, where he reportedly died Saturday.
“While … two sources said that Epstein may have tried to hang himself, a third source cautioned that the injuries weren’t serious, questioning whether Epstein might have staged an attack or a suicide attempt to get a transfer to another facility,” NBC News reported at the time.
His suicide Saturday strongly suggests that what happened late last month was indeed a failed suicide attempt.
The 66-year-old billionaire’s suicide also coincides with the release a day ago of an estimated 2,000 documents linked to a defamation suit filed against him and his “madam,” Ghislaine Maxwell.
These documents have implicated a number of prominent figures — including former President Bill Clinton, former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and former Sen. George Mitchell — in some of Epstein’s activities.

Because of the timing, conspiracy theories suggesting that Epstein was murdered have begun to abound on Twitter:

Dead men tell no tales. Just as Jeffrey Epstein starts to name names, he decides to kill himself? Mkay. Totally believable. https://t.co/PJFUgFBpao

After documents were unsealed yesterday revealing that top Democrats, including @BillClinton, took private trips to Jeffrey Epstein’s pedophilic, sex island— he was found dead in his cell.
Color me shocked. https://t.co/zkuS3If6ii

Now that Jeffrey Epstein is dead, like many who could have destroyed the Clintons, he too ended up dead by suicide…

Things running through my mind…
Wasn’t Jeffrey Epstein on suicide watch?
Did he really commit suicide or was he murdered?
Or is he dead because they “say” so?
Sorry, something is off.

Of course Epstein is dead.
You think they’d let him live, knowing what he knew?
Gimme a break.
He could have brought down the whole racket in 30 mins of testimony.

Jeffrey Epstein’s “suicide” in prison was the easiest prediction of 2019 — didn’t even have to activate Conspiracy Bill for this one. That dude was never seeing a courtroom. This is the most F’ed up start to finish criminal story of the 21st century.

.@realDonaldTrump should immediately direct the DOJ to launch an investigation into the death of Jeffrey Epstein.
Epstein was on 24/7 suicide watch. If he did commit suicide, he didn’t do it by himself.#EpsteinSuicide

To be clear, there have been no reports of foul play, though it is odd — as noted by young conservative commentator CJ Pearson — that he managed to kill himself despite being on suicide watch.
Regarding the documents released Friday, they contain a deposition by Epstein’s alleged “sex slave,” Virginia Roberts Giuffre, regarding the powerful men whom she’d been forced to have sex with, along with the powerful men whom she’d sometimes seen in Epstein’s presence.
Included among the latter set of men is former President Bill Clinton. In the deposition, Giuffre describes being flown to Little Saint James (Epstein’s island in the Caribbean) when she was 17 and then tagging along as Maxwell took “a huge black helicopter” to pick up Clinton.
“Epstein did invite two young brunettes to a dinner which he gave on his Caribbean island for Mr. Clinton shortly after he left office,” the deposition reads. “I’d have been about 17 at the time. I flew to the Caribbean with Jeffrey and then Ghislaine Maxwell went to pick up Bill in a huge black helicopter that Jeffrey had bought her.”
“I remember she was very excited because she got her license around the first year we met. I used to get frightened flying with her but Bill had the secret service with him and I remember him talking about what a good job she did. I don’t remember seeing Bill again on the trip but I assume Ghislaine flew him back.”
This is concerning because it shows Clinton to be a liar. In a statement released last month — only a day after Epstein was arrested and charged with sex trafficking underage girls — Clinton claimed to have never been on the island.
