Elizabeth Warren testing ‘reparations’ for gays: ‘And you get reparations! And you get reparations!’

Fresh off of holding a widely panned hearing on reparations for black people last week, Democrats went ahead and took their pandering to the next level by pushing for what are being described by some as reparations for homosexuals.

On Thursday, a day after the reparations hearing, 2020 Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren unveiled a bill, the so-called Refund Equality Act, that would, if signed into law, effectively force the government to dole out reparations to gay couples.

On what basis? On the basis that the gay couples who were married before gay marriage was legalized nationally were robbed of the tax benefits that they allegedly deserve.

“If the act passes, LGBTQ+ couples married in states where their union was recognized before gay marriage was legalized nationwide in 2013 could amend their past tax returns to receive IRS refunds,” an overview of the law posted to Mic reads.

“According to NBC News, that’s approximately $57 million in total owed to countless couples who weren’t able to jointly file federal tax returns prior to the Supreme Court’s decision.”

To be fair, that’s $14 trillion less than reparations for blacks would reportedly cost.

Warren linked her followers to this piece in a tweet she posted Saturday:

“The federal government forced legally married same-sex couples in Massachusetts to file as individuals and pay more in taxes for almost a decade,” the 2020 contender added in a statement. “We need to call out that discrimination and to make it right — Congress should pass the Refund Equality Act immediately.”

According to a press release by Warren’s office, 42 other senators — all of them Democrats, of course — have cosponsored the bill, including Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Moreover, Rep. Judy Chu has reportedly introduced the same bill in the House,

Ever since Warren unveiled this plan Thursday, she’s faced a barrage of criticism on social media, some of it from the gay community itself. She’s also faced mockery.

Look:

The most common complaint was that Warren is pandering. You think? Her entire presidential campaign thus far has revolved around promising freebies to every allegedly oppressed or struggling group, including but not limited to blacks, college students, single mothers, teachers, and everybody with a cold.

Combined, her freebies would reportedly amount to over $3 trillion in giveaways. She’s proposed paying for these giveaways with a wealth tax. There’s just one problem.

“Taken altogether, Warren’s proposals would cost $3.265 trillion over the next decade, compared to the $2.75 trillion raised by the wealth tax,” Reason magazine notes. “That means a wealth tax isn’t enough to fund these programs. But that’s a common theme among Democratic policy proposals released thus far.”

Plus, a wealth tax would be detrimental to the economy, as evidenced by its poor performance in Europe.

“European countries have moved away from wealth taxes — 12 countries had wealth taxes in 1990, while only four did by 2017,” Reason notes. “Before those taxes were abolished, they played a minimal role in revenue generation.”

“These countries recognized that the wealth tax poses real economic problems. They treat personal wealth, like a mansion, the same as productive business investments like factories or tools, which impedes both enforcement and economic growth.”

The bottom line is that Warren can’t pay for all the things she’s promising,” the piece concluded.

Yet the her plan going into 2020 is basically to just offer free stuff despite knowing full well that the government can’t and won’t ever be able to afford her outlandish proposals.

What do you call it when somebody promises something he or she can’t deliver? You call it a lie. And what do you call the process of someone telling such lies in a bid to drum up support? You call it pandering!

Final question, class: What do you call people who pander?

You call them desperate!
