The Mexican military has been deployed to stem the barrage of illegal immigrants stampeding toward the United States after President Donald Trump threatened to impose punitive tariffs on Mexico if it doesn’t step up.
Fortunately for its flailing economy, Mexico caved at the last minute. Unfortunately, the Mexican military sucks. Whether that’s intentional or accidental is unclear.
Incompetent Mexican military detains 25 migrants, lets 200 go
Pursuant to Trump’s demands, the Mexican National Guard has begun arresting migrants who are hitching a ride on a train known as “The Beast,” the Washington Examiner reported.
“The National Guard was placed on one side, a moment that was used by more than 200 migrants who got off the train and fled,” said Nataniel Hernández Núñe, director of the Digna Ochoa Human Rights Center.
Basically, due to the Mexican military’s screw-up, only 25 migrants were actually detained, while 200 others remain at large.
In 2014, Mexican officials outlawed riding on “The Beast” to illegally migrate to the United States, but they never enforced the policy. This has caused the barrage of illegal immigrants to flood the United States.
Mexico doesn’t want the illegal immigrants either
Mexican media claim that migrant apprehensions in Mexico have spiked 200% after Trump threatened to drown Mexico with punishing tariffs. However, Mexico’s efforts to plug this illegal-immigration flow to the United States is halfhearted at best.
Why? Because Mexico does not want the illegal aliens, either, because it doesn’t want to care for them financially. Mexico would rather make the United States a dumping ground for unskilled migrants since it’s afraid this horde will drain their economy, as it does America’s.

Trump threatens to cut off gravy train
President Trump has repeatedly said that Mexico must step up and stem the migrant onslaught. If not, he vowed to halt US financial aid to Mexico — a hefty financial package that totals $320 million a year.
The US has also given $2.6 billion in financial aid to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador since 2014. President Trump has threatened to cut off that gravy train, and to close the border permanently if the migrant caravans continue their invasions.
Trump wants to prioritize high-skilled immigrants
As BizPac Review reported, President Trump has proposed a merit-based immigration system that prioritizes high-skilled workers and requires immigrants to pass a civics test before entering the US. They must also learn English and not become a long-term financial burden to American taxpayers.
Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom all have merit-based immigration systems. Why shouldn’t the United States? No one is calling these other countries racist for wanting to select the cream of the crop to enter their countries.
After decades of letting unskilled immigrants leech off (rather than contribute) to the U.S. economy, President Trump set new parameters that would bolster the economy and benefit all Americans.
