Freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez — who has been in office for six months — argued that she deserves a $4,500 pay raise even though her party blocked an effort to increase congressional pay.
Keep in mind that this time last year, AOC was a bartender who lived off tips. And given her track record of tax evasion, it’s unlikely that she paid taxes on those gratuities. Today, Ocasio Cortez makes $174,000 per year as a Congresswoman, courtesy of U.S. taxpayers.

Newbie lawmaker Ocasio Cortez: I deserve a $4,500 raise
Yesterday, House Democrats abruptly decided not to push for a congressional pay raise, saying the proposal needs more discussion because it may not get Republican support.
“It needs more discussion,” Democrat Nita Lowey, chair of the House Appropriations Committee, told Fox News.
Like many Americans, members of Congress haven’t had a pay raise in nine years, so many lawmakers (like AOC) were pushing for one. But vulnerable swing-state Democrats balked at the idea amid concerns over how padding their own wallets would look to their constituents — especially if the proposal does not get GOP support.
AOC: ‘It’s not even, like, a raise!’
However, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says Congress deserves the raise. The former barmaid says a $4,500 annual pay bump is a trivial cost-of-living increase.
“It’s not even like a raise,” Ocasio-Cortez told Fox News (see video). “[The pay increase] is superficial. This is why there’s so much pressure to turn to lobbying firms and to cash in on member service after people leave, because precisely of this issue.”

Illegal immigrant superfan AOC: Everybody should get a raise, yo!
AOC says she deserves more money. Why? Because she’s working hard to fight for a $15 minimum wage, even as she’s promoting mass illegal immigration that would depress wages for low-skilled workers.
“It may be politically convenient, and it may make you look good in the short term for saying, ‘Oh we’re not voting for pay increases,’ but we should be fighting for pay increases for every American worker,” AOC said. “We should be fighting for a $15 minimum wage pegged to inflation so that everybody in the United States with a salary with a wage gets a cost-of-living increase.”
Ocasio-Cortez added: “Members of Congress, retail workers — everybody! — should get cost-of-living increases to accommodate for the changes in our economy. And then when we don’t do that, it only increases the pressure on members to exploit loopholes like insider-trading loopholes, to make it on the back end.”
So basically, AOC — the former barmaid who previously lived off the kindness of strangers — is now justifying taking bribes from lobbyists and capitalizing on her political office to enrich herself unless Congress gets a raise.
Here’s what AOC and Democrats don’t understand: You can’t demand a pay raise AND a $15 minimum wage while also pushing for mass illegal immigration, which costs taxpayers $116 billion every year. There’s only so much OPM (Other People’s Money) to go around before the gravy train dries up.
Congress wastes time trying to attack AG William Barr
Meanwhile, instead of promoting the interests of the constituents who voted them into office, Congress wasted its time on Monday debating whether to enforce a contempt subpoena for both Attorney General William Barr and former White House Counsel Don McGahn.
The House is expected to vote on the resolution today. As BizPac Review reported, the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Barr in contempt, claiming he failed to turn over the entire unredacted final report of Robert Mueller’s fruitless Russia collusion investigation.
Keep in mind that the version that was turned over to Democrats is 98% unredacted on obstruction of justice and 95% unredacted on collusion. As US Attorney General, Barr is obligated to redact grand jury testimony and top-secret intel that jeopardizes national security.
But AG Barr isn’t worried about the pitchfork-wielding Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee who voted to hold him in contempt.
Why? Because he knows that’s not going to amount to anything. Remember when Republicans held Obama’s AG Eric Holder in contempt? Nothing came of it.
