As frustrating as special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian collusion is, what with his near-unlimited power to prosecute anybody for anything, it still pales in comparison to the treachery of those GOP lawmakers who continually defend him, or so says Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
“The one thing we can’t do is fire Robert Mueller because actually, our constitutional system doesn’t really acknowledge democracy, we can have someone who literally can’t be fired in the middle of the democratic republic — how does that work?” he said Tuesday on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
“Republicans pushed that,” he added, pointing to those congressional Republicans who’ve voted in favor of legislation to protect Mueller from being sidelined in his “witch hunt” against the president.
Carlson’s guest, conservative commentator Mollie Hemingway, concurred: “Someone who’s literally unaccountable, who nothing can be done to, who has all the powers of the CIA and all the powers of the FBI — and Republicans sat there and said, ‘There’s nothing we can do about this,'” she said.
They did more than that. Last November then-Sen. Jeff Flake outright refused to confirm President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees unless the Senate considered a bill to protect Mueller.
“So why would anybody vote for people like this?” Carlson continued. “Seriously, if you have one side that’s perpetuating what is a transparent fraud and causing the wheels of government to grind to a halt … if you’re playing along with that, why would Republican voters vote for you?”
By a “transparent fraud” he meant the entire Russian collusion narrative, which as those who pay attention know already exists solely because of an effort by failed Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the Democrat National Committee to smear the president.
During the presidential election three years ago, the two hired an unscrupulous firm to dig up information about Trump. That firm wound up putting together a sketchy dossier full of lies. Some of those lies were based off information provided to the firm by Russian operatives.

That dossier later made its way into the hands of the FBI, who in turn used it to secure a surveillance warrant against then-GOP presidential nominee Trump’s campaign.
“I think it’s one of the sad things about the current moment, that many people who are in positions of power, who are Republican, fear the media or fear their peer group more than they care about upholding rule of law,” Hemingway noted to Carlson.
The Fox host agreed, saying, “Their minds are not free. They spend all day trying to avoid being criticized by people who hate them for reasons that are not even related. They are ruled by their enemies. Their enemies live in their heads and control all of their behavior.”
While that’s true, Hemingway argued Republicans are nevertheless obligated to the American people.
“They serve in these positions of power because we expect them to take their leadership and their role very seriously. It doesn’t sound like they take this very seriously,” she said.
“And to not have been asking the important questions about this, as things just went crazy for year after year. And then to pretend now — what everyone’s doing is pretending that they didn’t do it. They’re all trying to pretend like they didn’t push this Russia conspiracy theory as it starts to fall apart.”
On Tuesday word broke that a bipartisan group of congressional Republicans and Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee have concluded that there’s no direct evidence to prove that Trump colluded with Russian operatives to affect the outcome for the 2016 election.

This video was shared to Twitter by Trump early Tuesday evening.
The president later retweeted conservative commentator Dan Bongino:
I don’t feel an ounce of empathy for all of the imbeciles who bought into the Russian collusion hoax now that it’s been entirely debunked. You were warned for over a year about this scam & you fell for it anyway. You did this to yourself.
— Dan Bongino (@dbongino) February 12, 2019
And in a tweet posted Wednesday morning, he reiterated the findings:
The Senate Intelligence Committee: THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF COLLUSION BETWEEN THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND RUSSIA!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 13, 2019
The radical, fact-free left has of course disputed the Senate’s findings, much like they disputed the FBI’s findings last year after the bureau found that there was no evidence to back up the claim that then-Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh was a sexual abuser.
There is no evidence of collusion “to them” because they didn’t do a thorough investigation like Mueller is doing and like the House will do.

The partisan GOP Lead committee found no direct evidence that you colluded with Russia. Note that their key witness refused to testify and several other witnesses lied. Of course they didn’t

— Lawrence Teiper (@LawrenceTeiper) February 13, 2019
Wow, the republican lead (trump ass-sniffing) senate intelligence committee said that? I would’ve never guessed they’d come to that conclusion.
