A debate in the U.S. House of Representatives erupted into a war of words after a Republican congressman accused Rep. Rashida Tlaib of advocating for terrorists.
The Michigan Democrat was triggered by the words of Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) during Wednesday’s debate over her war powers resolution that she introduced to limit U.S. support for Israel’s war on Lebanon. Miller had been arguing that his Democrat colleagues lacked “education and understanding” of what is happening in Lebanon and the Iran-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah.
“While I can appreciate the passion from my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, I do not appreciate their lack of education and understanding of what is really going on there,” he said. “Hezbollah is a terrorist organization, the gentle lady from Michigan, and its members are butchers that you like to hang out with to a certain extent.”
A chaotic exchange grinds House floor debate on Lebanon war powers to a halt.

Tlaib immediately reacted, asking Rep. Jay Obernolte (R-CA), who was presiding over the House floor, to have Miller’s remarks stricken from the congressional record.
“Oh, I’m sorry, are we getting a little emotional?” Miller questioned.
“I’m hanging out with terrorists now?” Tlab shouted as Obernolte suspended Miller’s time and repeatedly called for order.
“I certainly believe you advocate for them, yes. You advocate for terrorists on a daily basis,” Miller shot back at Tlaib
Eventually, she was given the floor, and she raged against Miller, as the House proceedings were temporarily paused.
“That is a direct attack on my character,” she said. “Please, request a motion to strike the words down.”
“Such remarks impugn the patriotism and loyalty of a member of the House, which is not in order,” Obernolte said as he regained control. “Without objection, the offending words are stricken from the record.”
He also banned Miller from speaking on the floor for the rest of the day.
But that did not prevent Miller’s Republican colleague, Rep. Brian Mast, from being his voice when he was given the floor.
“Yes, I said it. I own it, and I stand by it,” the Florida lawmaker said, reading Miller’s statement, which he then asked to submit for the record.

Many social media users applauded Miller’s remarks on X.
Her character deserves striking down.
And notice: she NEVER called him a liar.
That’s because he was spot on.— CD Myers (@myers_cd) June 4, 2026

He probably shouldn’t have called her a butcher but she certainly does support the terrorists! Funny that she screamed about the personal attack on her character when her very 1st day in office she called Trump a motherf*cker! Calling him racist is also an attack on character!

They proudly and actively advocate for terrorists every day and then pointing that out makes them mad? Even though they point it out themselves? Wild.
