There was a day when patriotic Americans laughed off left wing lunacy and the incessant politically correct doctrine it produces — and look where that got us.

Outspoken Hollywood actor James Woods warned in a tweet Thursday that newly elected socialist congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez poses a greater threat to America than most realize.

“This is the most dangerous person in America right now. Ignore her at your peril,” he tweeted alongside a picture of the congressman Thursday afternoon, hours after she delivered a record-breaking speech (more on that below) on the House floor Wednesday night criticizing President Donald Trump over the ongoing government shutdown.

Look:

Though many conservatives have dismissed Ocasio-Cortez because of her numerous gaffes and her pronounced aversion to being “being precisely, factually, and semantically correct,” Woods and others like him believe the enormous influence she wields could very well cement her role in powerful positions, as she continues to amass a massive and supportive base.

Facts, be damned.

Recall that roughly 10 years ago, another barely known left-wing radical, not too unlike Ocasio-Cortez, abruptly hopped into the spotlight and quickly rose to power, transforming almost overnight from a “community organizer’ to an obscure state senator and into the Oval Office with legions of doting fans, despite his disastrous policies.

Over the course of the next eight years, that charismatic radical, former President Barack Hussein Obama, “fundamentally transformed” America in ways so pernicious — e.g., by promoting identity politics, racial resentment, political correctness, etc. — that the aftereffects continue to fester and divide.

Now look at Ocasio-Cortez, a woman whom Fox News host Laura Ingraham rightly noted on Thursday, wields a great deal of charisma and a “massive social media following” — just like Obama.

“She’s as close to a thought leader that the Democratic Party has today, and she has a massive social media following,” the Fox host said. “She’s both charismatic, and she’s committed to transforming both our economic system and our culture.”

“The [Democrat] base … it’s moving everybody to the left. You have a few moderates, Steny Hoyer and a few others, but not many. They are all going to have to kiss Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s ring,” she added, her point being that the socialist congresswoman is the future of the Democrat Party.

According to data compiled by Axios, the young congresswoman boasts more Twitter followers than Obama, congresswoman Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi combined.

Ingraham continued by noting that it would be a mistake for conservatives “not to take [Ocasio-Cortez] seriously, to brush her off as kind of a flash in the pan or an upstart.”

Listen to some of her commentary below:

It was this same sentiment that Woods appeared to express in his tweet. And while some conservatives might dismiss this as mere fear-mongering, the evidence strongly suggests otherwise.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

A recent Rasmussen found that were a presidential election held between the current president and Ocasio-Cortez, the New York congressmen would lose by only three percentage points.

But there’s more. The inaugural address she delivered on the House floor Wednesday evening broke a C-SPAN record, becoming “the most-watched Twitter video from the outlet of any remarks by a House member,” according to Time magazine.

You may listen to the speech, which consisted primarily of the young congresswoman bashing the president for a shutdown that was triggered by Democrat obstruction, below:

While reasons may differ on why so many Americans apparently watched her speech, the fact that she’s enthralled so many, so quickly, is in and of itself quite scary, according to social media users. As is the fact she was even voted into office in the first place.

Look:

There are millions more who would vote for her with no regrets.
