President Donald Trump revealed Tuesday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo did not deliver a CD with the song “Rocket Man” to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un over the weekend, but he does have plans to give the young despot a “little gift.”

“They didn’t give it. But it will be given at a certain period,” Trump told reporters Tuesday, confirming earlier reports from the Department of State, “I actually do — I actually do have a little gift for him. But you will find out what that gift is when I give it.”

The Chosun Ilbo, a South Korean newspaper, reported last Friday that Trump had personally instructed Pompeo to deliver a CD with Elton John’s song “Rocket Man” to Kim when he visited earlier in July in an effort to follow up on a conversation the two leaders had at the Singapore summit.

Pompeo recently made his third trip to North Korea, arriving in Pyongyang on July 6 for two-day talks with North Korean officials.

While Pompeo claimed that “a great deal of progress” was made during the meetings, the North Korean foreign ministry criticized the talks, as well as the U.S. attitude.

Despite this setback, the president insists that he trusts Kim Jong Un will honor the agreement signed in Singapore.
