Instagram model Jen Selter kicked off plane by police after picking fight with flight staff

Rule-of-thumb: always be nice to your stewardess.

Jen Selter, a 24-year-old fitness model with 11.7 million Instagram followers, was escorted off an American Airlines flight Saturday night after she and her sister engaged in a tense argument with a flight attendant and pilot, TMZ reports.

Selter and her sister were in Miami on a plane bound for New York’s LaGuardia airport. Their flight was delayed for 90 minutes due to mechanical issues.

While another passenger went to the restroom, the Instagram model stood up, later claiming she had been trying to put her jacket up.

A flight attendant asked Selter to be seated. The argument that ensued came to the attention of the pilot, who was recorded saying that the crew wanted the sisters to get off the plane.

The flight attendant reportedly asked Selter if she wanted to disembark, to which the passenger replied, “Yes.” The model later said she was being sarcastic.

“I didn’t do anything wrong,” Selter maintained.

Another passenger came to sisters’ defense, arguing that the flight crew was “harassing” Selter.

“We’ve been here for three hours,” the passenger said. “We’ve been supposed to leave! Now she’s trying to kick her out because she’s standing up … I don’t understand this. You’re harassing her.”

Police came onto the plane and told Selter “American Airlines calls the shots, they don’t want you to fly on their plane today.” The model and her sister exited the plane and took a Sunday morning American Airlines flight to New York.

Selter regularly wows her followers with suggestive photos in which she flaunts her curves and wears revealing clothing.

Last Spring, United Airline faced backlash for the forcible removal of a doctor who refused to get off when the flight had to use scarce seats for its employees.

In December, United removed a teacher from her seat in order to accommodate Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. When the passenger complained, the African American congresswoman accused her of racism.
