Brittany Robinson’s father was putting up Christmas lights when he made a gruesome discovery underneath his porch crawlspace, the remains of his daughter’s baby.
An affidavit reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette states that the 23-year-old Robinson claims she wasn’t aware she was pregnant until Friday, when she gave birth in the bathtub of her family home in Shenango, Pennsylvania.
Then, when the baby was born, Robinson claims she “didn’t notice a heartbeat or pulse,” so instead of calling authorities she put the body in a garbage bag inside a dresser drawer, then placed it under a porch behind the house. She later moved the corpse to a crawl space, where her father eventually found it while re-routing an extension cord.
Police are having none of her story, and reportedly have evidence that Robinson knew about the pregnancy prior to giving birth.
Enough evidence to arrest and charge the 23-year-old with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, concealing the death of a child, and tampering with evidence.
The 19-inch-long baby was full-term and weighed 7 pounds, according to a preliminary autopsy.
After being treated at UPMC Horizon Shenango Valley hospital, Robinson was discharged and promptly arrested by state troopers, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
She is being held at the Lawrence County Jail and was arraigned Monday.
