Outgoing junior senator Bob Corker could very well be harboring notions that he could run for president against Donald Trump.
When asked by reporters on Friday about the prospect, Corker refused to rule it out, choosing instead to insist he’s focused on the remaining months of his Senate term.
“You know, I don’t know what I’m doing next Sunday,” Corker told reporters at a Tennessee economic development conference.
Instead, Corker has been busy picking fights with the president, calling the White House an “adult day care center” and labeling Trump as “utterly untruthful and culpable for “the debasement of our nation.”
The president has gotten his share of jabs in the feud as well, with classics like “Liddle Bob Corker” and “lightweight” being used to describe his frequent critic.
“I think that if you even begin thinking those things, everything you do becomes viewed through a different lens,” the Tennessee senator said.
He did add that any thoughts of impeaching Trump were unrealistic and not going to happen.
While the New York Post reports that Corker was received well at the conference, his home state approval rating has dropped from well above half to 45 percent. In contrast, President Trump’s approval in Tennessee stands at 50 percent.
“We were surprised that it hadn’t dropped further than it did,” Corker said of his latest approval polling.
That’s one thing plenty of Tennesseans, including this writer, can agree on!
Meanwhile, Twitter had a few things to say about the latest Corker news:

#BobCorker better run as a Democrat. He will not get over 3% in a @GOP primary, and that’s if he’s the only one running against #TRUMP2020 https://t.co/Ysd125fSaL
