Black Lives Matters prom dress with victims’ faces all over it gets very mixed reviews

A Florida teenager turned heads when she walked into her prom, but not for the usual reasons.

Milan Morris, 17, wore a Black Lives Matter dress with the faces of Sandra Bland, Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin to the Cardinal Newman High School prom, Essence reported.

“Yes I’m black. Yes I’m 17. Yes GOD is using me to convey a message that’s bigger than me. #AllLivesMatter #BlackLivesMatter #MoveWithPurpose,” she wrote on Instagram.

A dress designer from West Palm Beach, Terrence Torrence, spent over four days creating the dress.

“He was the mastermind behind this whole thing honestly,” Morris told Essence before adding that the “message is a huge issue in America today.”

“It was art. It was surreal. It spoke volumes,” Torrence said.

“It was powerful and a movement and I knew people would respond to it,” he added.

And he was correct.

But a lot of it was probably not what he was anticipating.

Others approved of the message but didn’t like the dress.
